Amvets Post 224 Horseshoe League

Due to rain increasing to thunderstorms on May 13, at 6:00p.m. Amvets horseshoe league is cancelled. Please notify your partner and team scheduled to play. If all involved agree to play in rain feel free. Just be sure score sheets are readable.

Fun Day scheduled for members of the Men and Women horseshoe leagues on Saturday, June 13, 2026. Sign up sheet available at horseshoe pits. Grill will be going with hamburgers/cheeseburgers, sausage, hot dogs available for purchase. In-club tournament will be run. Partner draw. $10.00 tournament entry fee with payouts for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Tournament start at 1:00 p.m. Asking all Amvets Post 224 horseshoe league members to join in the fun.😃

Amvets Post 224 tournaments scheduled for Saturday ,July 11, and Saturday, August 8, 2026. $20.00 entry fee. Payout based on participation for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place Class A & B. Partner draw. Sign-up by 12:00 noon. Pitch starts 1:00 p.m. Beverages and food available for purchase.

We are still looking for a few men to fill our Men's Horseshoe League this year. Our league starts on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. If you are an accomplished pitcher or a beginner, we have a spot for you. Contact the League President, Carl Goshorn at 223-432-7011 by April 6, 2026 if you are interested.

ATTENTION 2026 AMVETS HORSESHOE LEAGUE PITCHERS: this coming Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. we will have a meeting to discuss several items tabled from the Mar 11 meeting. Most importantly all players should be present to draw partners for this year. Also, pit area clean ups have been scheduled for Sat, Mar 28 and Sat, Apr 4. Men's league dues ($25.00) are to be paid by Mar 25, 2026.

We will also accept help from the Women's Horseshoe League for clean up days. We are also looking for a cook for each Wednesday beginning April 15, 2026. This person needs to be available from 4:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Please contact Linda or Carl Goshorn at email [email protected] for more info. Thank you.

So now that March is here, horseshoes can't be far behind! First meeting is Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. at the AMVETS. We are aiming for a full 32 man league this year. Looks pretty good so far. If you are planning on pitching you are encouraged to attend this meeting as we are going to be discussing some items that will affect all members.

PAYOUTS FOR MIXED LEAGUE WILL BE AVAILABLE WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2025 BETWEEN 5:00 - 6:30 P.M. AT AMVETS. PLEASE MAKE AN EFFORT TO PICK UP DURING THAT TIME. THANK YOU.

Don't forget about our tournaments scheduled for August 10 and September 7, 2025. Tournaments are open to anyone looking for some good competition and fun. Sign up by 11:00 a.m. Lunch served at 12 noon, pitch starts at 1:00 p.m. $25 to pitch and eat; $10 to eat for non-pitchers. Beverages available at reasonable cost.
These always prove to be an interesting afternoon of comraderie, competition and fun!

With the Men's Horseshoe League over for the year we are looking forward to the Mixed League beginning on July 19, 2025 and the banquet scheduled for August 24, 2025. Sign-up sheets for the banquet will be available at the pits and inside the club later this week.
