Early Barred Owl chicks documented by the Illinois Raptor Center in Decatur!
A young Barred Owlet chokes down some scrumptious American Robin for lunch. Mother owl looks on with care and concern while also maintaining an eye out for dangers. We ( the Illinois Raptor Center ) recently reunited another chick with this family and it truly was amazing to watch this adult feed her young with me at a safe distance. If you are interested in the whole story (and other cool pictures) visit the Illinois Raptor Centers page for more!

Here's a super easy way to turn a PVC pipe into a reach pole to see what's in your owl nest boxes. Cut an angle, secure phone with good rubber band (camera lense at top); set timer to take picture; then take a peek in your box!
