Wrestling academy in Arizona, head instructor Coach Shawn Charles has 20+years of Division 1 coachin
Power Inferno Wrestling Academy, along with head instructor Coach Shawn Charles, brings a fresh new wrestling program to the state of Arizona. Coach Charles has 30+years of coaching/wrestling experience, coaching at several of the premier programs in the country, such as, Iowa State, Nebraska, University of Missouri, as well as his alma mater, Arizona State University. During his coaching tenure h
e has trained 42 All-Americans, 5 NCAA Champions and 3 Olympians. His concentration now will be training the members of PIWA year-round. PIWA is a supplemental program designed to harness the greatness in each wrestler and give them a true competitive edge, assisting coaches and being an added resource for parents. PIWA will not enter nor compete as a club/academy in any events in the state of Arizona. PIWA is a neutral entity providing assistance and services to all. Coach Charles has put together an intense fundamental practice plan that efficiently incorporates: balance, coordination, agility, quickness, superior World-class technical skills, while making the practices fun and exciting. His systematic approach to success will focus on offensive attacks, counter offense (defense), riding strategies (always looking for the fall) along with escape strategies (being a threat off bottom) providing the PIWA members an immediate competitive advantage. He will educate academy members on critical thinking during practice and matches, provide knowledge on match preparation, and explain how to manage stress and anxiety. He will give insight on weight management, not weight cutting. Statement from Coach Charles “I’m honored to be part of your wrestling journey. Remember, your enrollment brings you one step closer to accomplishing your goals. My overall vision is to train Arizona’s 8-18 year old wrestlers to become the best wrestlers’ in the state, as well as, the nation. Arizona has the talent, now we need to commit to the program. There are no quick fixes, hard work pays off, “Consistency Breeds Champions””
