We took the time to write down an eloquent farewell, but FB deleted it during posting... So here is the short version. As of this morning Flex Fitness is officially closed. This was not an easy decision for us, in fact it was downright painful, but it's time to close this chapter of our lives and set our sights on new goals. We have made lifelong friends here and had some of the best times of our lives. We raised our babies beside all of you and we'll never forget the amazing times we had with our Flex family. We are beyond grateful for each and every one of you and really can't thank you all enough for the support over these last 8 years. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

They make cream cheese too π
I don't use these products too often, but sometimes you just need a little dairy in your life! Hello treat meal enchiladas! Now I don't have to sacrifice taste for a stomach ache and feeling puffy for 2 days π€

How many times has fear stopped you from doing something that you really want to do?
β it used to stop me all the time. from doing just about everything. It wasn't until I had read and really took to heart "what would you do today if you weren't afraid to fail" that i finally took action. And I'll tell you what, I may have faced some "failures"/learning opportunities along the way, but I wouldn't go back for anything.
Now I purposely try to constantly kick myself out of that comfort zone because that's when the magic happens. I'm always in the process of becoming my best self and I won't let fear take that away from me.
So what would you do if you weren't afraid?

Motivation Tip: buy a piece of clothing that you love in a goal size.
I bought these a few months ago after having Steele, purposely getting my regular size so I could fit in them when I lost the baby weight. I tried them on and they wouldn't go over my thighs or butt - that's right, SPANDEX would not stretch that much! I haven't touched them until this morning and look, they fit! With minimal love handle spillage too π€ Fitting into them just gave me the encouragement that my hard work is paying off!
While I do have more work to do to reach my ultimate goal, this halfway point reward made my day πͺ
*side note: look how pretty the sunrise was this morning! Perks of being at the gym when its still dark out π

Motivation tip: use a picture that inspires you as your phone screensaver. You'll see it a million times a day! Some people use a picture of them at their worst, some at their best, some of a completely different person that they look up to; whatever motivates you!
And yes, that is a picture of myself, but before you think I'm totally vain I'll explain... That was a very challenging period of my life, had a toddler and 1 year old, was helping run a business AND I worked my b***y off to put on over 15 pounds of muscle and lose over 10% body fat. I'm proud of that time of my life and the obstacles I overcame. I see this picture and it reminds me that I can do whatever I put my mind to. If I did it once I can do it again πͺ

New year goal: 1000 pull ups in 2018 (thanks Elizabeth for the idea!)
Right now I can do... 0, BUT I have 100% confidence that if I keep working on it this will be totally achievable. I used to be able to do 5 before the baby!
So here I am working on my negatives, as well as assisted pull ups to build my strength
What is your non-weight related fitness goal for the year?

Resolutions don't have to be so 'black and white'. If you think you'll never miss a workout, eat another bad meal, or have another cocktail again you're setting yourself up for failure. If your goal is to give each day your best, find solutions to excuses that stand in your way, and care more about the way you feel than the way you look, you'll probably be a lot more successful.
And remember that while the new year always sparks a desire to make a change, you really can make that change any month, week or day that you decide its important enough to you!
Cheers to loving yourself more and having the happiest 2018 π₯

COMMON MISCONCEPTION
I came across this on Pinterest and thought I'd share my beef with these misleading headlines. When I was in my early days of loving fitness, I would read all the magazines that had titles just like this and religiously perform hundreds of these core moves to get rid of my love handles, get a 6 pack, etc. with little to no results.
Who else has been there? π
It doesn't work because they don't tell you that you can have the strongest core in the world, but if your nutrition isn't where it needs to be the fat is still there covering up all your hard work!
*you CAN NOT out train a bad diet - believe me I've tried!
*I'm not saying these moves aren't beneficial, I incorporate all of these into my routine at one point or another
To sum it up: results are obtained when exercise is performed in conjunction with good nutrition! Don't let the headlines fool you! β€jess

Homemade Chipotle for dinner! It is seriously so easy, quick and cheap!
That 7.5 # roast was $13. I threw it in the crock pot with the mojito lime seasoning on high for 7 hours. It just fell apart on its own. Made brown rice, cut up some veggies and warmed up some cans of black beans and I was done!
For $20 I had dinner for the 4 of us (my boys eat like grown men), lunches for days and enough pork to incorporate into another dinner. We couldn't have eaten 1 meal at Chipotle for that π€
