STOIC MARTIAL ARTS ⢠CHANHASSEN, MINNESOTA
If You Had to Defend Yourself Tomorrow⦠Would You Be Ready?
A 30-year martial arts veteran reveals why ordinary adults are discovering that real confidence isnāt something youāre born with. Itās something you earn.
Dear Friend,
Let me ask you something.
If somebody grabbed you tomorrow, knocked you to the ground, or threatened someone you loveā¦
Would you know what to do?
Not what you think you would do.
Not what youāve seen somebody do in a movie.
I mean, would you actually know how to respond when your heart is pounding, your adrenaline is surging, and things arenāt going according to plan?
Most people have never had to find out.
And I sincerely hope you never do.
But hereās something Iāve learned after more than 30 years in martial arts:
Thereās a world of difference between believing you can handle yourself and having the skills to back it up.
And that difference is exactly why I opened Stoic Martial Arts.
The Problem With Getting Older Isnāt Your Age.
Itās What You Stop Doing.
Think back 10 or 20 years.
Maybe you were an athlete. Maybe you played football, wrestled, lifted weights, or spent your weekends doing things that challenged you.
You knew what your body was capable of.
You werenāt afraid of a little discomfort.
But somewhere between building a career, raising a family, and taking care of everybody else, you started putting yourself last.
Maybe youāve gained a few pounds.
Maybe your back is a little stiffer than it used to be.
Maybe the last time you really pushed yourself was so long ago you canāt remember.
And maybe, every once in a while, you catch yourself wondering:
Could I still do it?
Could I get back in shape?
Could I learn to fight?
Could I become the kind of person who knows how to stay calm when things get difficult?
Hereās my answer.
You donāt have to be the person you were at 25. You can become a more skilled, more capable version of the person you are today.
But you have to start.
My Name Is Mason McClellan. Iāve Been Training Since 1994.
Iāve spent more than three decades studying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing, Muay Thai, and mixed martial arts.
Iām a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt.
Iāve trained with experienced fighters, talented athletes, complete beginners, and people who never imagined theyād step inside a martial arts academy.
And after all those years, thereās one thing Iāve come to believe:
The people who have the most to gain from martial arts arenāt necessarily the people who want to become fighters.
Theyāre ordinary adults.
The 42-year-old father who wants to know he can protect his family.
The 50-year-old executive who wants to get his strength and confidence back.
The woman who wants to feel more capable walking through the world.
The former athlete who misses having something meaningful to train for.
People who have spent years thinking about trying martial arts but havenāt quite found the courage to walk through the door.
If that sounds familiar, Iād like to personally invite you to Stoic.
Because weāve built something different from what you might expect.
This Is Not a Gym Where You Have to Prove How Tough You Are.
Walk into the wrong martial arts academy, and you might find yourself thrown into a class with experienced fighters who have little interest in helping you learn.
Thatās not what weāre building at Stoic.
We believe real martial arts should be challenging.
We believe you should work hard.
We believe your training should actually teach you something.
But we donāt believe you should have to survive your first class just to earn the right to come back for a second.
At Stoic, our philosophy is simple:
We build training partners, not casuals.
Youāll learn alongside people who want to improve, who respect one another, and who understand that becoming good at something takes time.
Youāll be challenged.
Youāll make mistakes.
Youāll discover that certain things are harder than they look.
And youāll have coaches and training partners who help you work through them.
Because the goal isnāt to prove youāre the toughest person in the room.
The goal is to become more capable every time you walk into it.
Real Skills. Real Training. No Hollywood Nonsense.
BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU
Learn how to use leverage, positioning, and technique to control another person, escape difficult positions, and become more comfortable handling physical resistance.
BOXING
Learn how to move, strike, defend, and stay composed while developing coordination, conditioning, and practical fighting skills.
MIXED MARTIAL ARTS
Bring striking and grappling together to develop a more complete understanding of martial arts and the skills that make them work.
This isnāt a weekend seminar promising to turn you into an unstoppable fighter.
Itās something much more valuable.
An opportunity to build real skills through consistent practice with experienced coaches and people who want to see you succeed.
And no, you donāt have to get punched in the face or compete in a cage to benefit from our training.
āBut Mason, Iām 45. Iām Out of Shape. I Havenāt Done Anything Like This in Years.ā
Good.
Then you sound like someone who might really benefit from what we do.
You donāt have to lose 20 pounds before your first class.
You donāt have to buy a bunch of expensive equipment.
And you certainly donāt have to walk through our doors already knowing how to fight.
Thatās why weāre here.
To teach you.
Weāll help you find a starting point that makes sense for your age, experience, goals, and physical abilities.
Some of our students want to compete.
Some want to get in shape.
Some want to learn self-defense.
Others simply want something more interesting and rewarding than another hour on a treadmill.
Thereās room for all of them.
You donāt have to become a fighter. But you might discover that youāre capable of a lot more than you thought.
Hereās My Personal Invitation to You.
Iād like you to come visit Stoic Martial Arts.

A year from now, you could still be thinking about learning martial arts.
Still wondering whether youāre too old.
Still telling yourself youāll get started when you have more time.
Or you could be a year into your training.
You could know how to escape from underneath a heavier opponent.
You could have learned how to throw a proper punch, defend yourself, and stay composed when things get uncomfortable.
You could have a group of training partners who push you to improve every week.
You could be stronger, more confident, and more capable than you are today.
Not because somebody handed you those things.
Because you earned them.
The first step doesnāt require courage in a cage. It just requires walking through our door.
I hope to see you on the mats.
