🥋 Final Points Tournament 🥋

Sunday, August 9 • 1PM • Munson School

We’re wrapping up the season with our last tournament of the year. Registration is at the door, but letting me know ahead of time helps with planning divisions.

We’ll run Kata, Weapons, and Sparring first, and then finish with Kids and Adult Chambara for anyone who stays.

It saddens us greatly to lose one of our long time karate moms. Rose Geddis was tragically killed in a car accident on July 2nd, 2026. Rose and Don were a constant presence at Karate Institute events for many years. Even after Sensei MitchGeddis moved onto college, and career. Many adults will remember Rose's KI Punch, warm smile, and welcoming attitude. She will be greatly missed. Our condolences to the family in this incredibly hard time.

Visitation and Services will be held at Burr Funeral home on Sunday, July 19th from 1:00-4:00pm

Fun fact of the day: it’s officially been 20 years since Sensei Peters earned his first black belt!

He kicked off his martial arts adventure in February 1990, and while the first white‑belt photo remains a mystery, I did uncover some gems. And in true Sensei fashion, he didn’t stop there — last year he earned his 5th‑degree black belt in our style.

He’s also expanded his journey by training in Brazilian Jiu‑Jitsu, where he is currently a four striped blue belt.

Through every chapter, one thing has stayed the same: Sensei Peters’ heart is at the dojo, where he’s happiest teaching, training, and building community.

Proof that hard work and dedication make the best throwbacks.
