The five-race Charleston Sprint Triathlon Series features a .3-mile swim, 12-mile bike ride, and 5K The triathlon is composed of a swim, bike and run.
The Charleston Sprint Triathlon Series is a series of five triathlons held annually. The park boasts a 10 acre freshwater lake that creates a perfect environment for a .3 mile swim. The 12 mile bike course includes approximently 3.5 miles in the park. The 5-K run is contained within the park and is on asphalt roads bike paths.

Athletes of all experience levels come together to swim, bike, and run through James Island County Park. Come experience the excitement whether your goal is to set a new PR or just cross the finish line. The first race of the series is coming up on June 21st!

Our community lost a legend and a truly bright light this past Sunday.
For over 25 years, race founder Paul King was a fixture at the end of each Charleston Sprint Triathlon Series race. Perched on his stool, he would speak from the heart about the sport he loved, the incredible family of athletes that had grown over the years, and whatever else was on his mind. Paul had countless friends, supporters, and admirers.
In 2014, Paul entrusted his beloved race series to Charleston County Parks. Each summer, he and Kathleen returned for the championship race to present the awards to the top male and female triathletes—awards that were fittingly named in their honor. As our Assistant Director of Recreation, John Massey, shared, "We've done our best to live up to his standards, and we will dearly miss him."
To Kathleen, Amelia, Skylar, and your entire family: Thank you for sharing Paul with us for so many years. You are all in our thoughts.💙
