The question is no longer “how do I become the best studio?” It’s “how do I become the studio people think about?” And that’s where leadership comes in. Visibility isn’t a marketing task. It’s a leadership decision.

One question changed how I moved through this past year, and it wasn’t about strategy.

“What do I need right now to feel safe, supported, and valued?”

Sometimes my answers were small. A walk outside. Sitting in the sun. Letting myself rest.

But most often, the answer was community.

And not just any community. A group of people further along in the same journey I was on. People who knew what to say, what not to say, and how to help me specifically.

No matter what season you’re in, we all need that. Especially if you’re running a yoga or Pilates business.

It’s tempting to think “I can do this alone,” or to lean on friends and family for business advice. But we were never meant to build in isolation. And taking advice from people who aren’t in the arena with you can slow you down. Sometimes it’s the very thing keeping you stuck.

Your partner loves you. Your best friend believes in you. But neither of them has filled a 6am class in February. The people who have? That’s the room you need.

So ask yourself: what do I need right now to thrive in my business?

And if part of your answer is real support and real strategy from someone who has been in the arena, start here.

My free workshop, Where Your Next 100 Students Come From, walks you through the three marketing mistakes keeping new students from finding your studio, and the system that fixes them. One owner used it to add 104 new students in eight weeks.

Paying Your Teachers Well Shouldn’t Mean Underpaying Yourself…

For a long time, I paid my teachers based on what felt good. I wanted them to thrive, to feel valued, and to make great money. But I learned the hard way—if a studio isn’t profitable, it’s not sustainable for anyone.

Here’s the truth: Both studio owners and teachers can make great money—but only if the business model supports it.

If you’re offering:
❌ A 50/50 split on workshops
❌ A 70/30 split for privates (with teachers taking the majority)
❌ Class pay that doesn’t factor in studio overhead… you might be overpaying your teachers while underpaying yourself.

👏And that’s not good for them either—because if the studio struggles, so do they👏

How Everyone Wins (Without Burnout)
The solution isn’t just adjusting teacher pay—it’s making sure everyone understands how to market, sell, and attract the right clients.

✔ Studio owners need to structure their pricing and pay in a way that allows for long-term growth.
✔ Teachers who understand sales & marketing can build a client base that allows them to earn more—without relying only on hourly pay.
✔ When both owners & teachers approach business with strategy, the studio thrives, everyone gets paid well, and no one is stuck in the “more classes = more money” cycle.

A profitable studio isn’t just good for owners—it’s good for teachers too. Because when the business thrives, there are more opportunities, higher-paying clients, and long-term stability for everyone.

Are you structuring your business in a way that lets everyone win? Let’s talk in the comments. ⬇️

Hank James Murphy is here 🤍

Watching Lain and Mac love on their new little brother, settling into life as a family of five, and getting to know this sweet boy has been the best.

We feel so overjoyed to have him here with our crew.

It already feels like he’s always belonged right here with us.

Your ceiling isn’t your schedule.
It’s a leadership problem.

The studios that scale aren’t the ones with better ideas. They’re the ones willing to make the hard call sooner — on the hire, the ad, the follow-up, the price, the offer.

That’s what we’re working through inside the Scale Your Studio Challenge next week.

April 20 — 24, 2026 Monday through Friday, 11:00 – 12:00pm EST Live on Zoom.
Replays available through Sunday, April 26. Free to join.

Over 5 days, we’ll work through:
→ The leadership decisions you’ve been putting off
→ The marketing systems (including paid ads) that actually drive consistent leads
→ The sales process that turns those leads into recurring revenue
→ The team and structure so your studio stops running on you.

This isn’t more information.
It’s where you actually implement what your next level requires.
Whether you just opened your studio or you’re scaling past $100K months — you belong in the room.

Sometimes the fastest way to grow is better support, not more strategy.

More time has to be spent on YOU the most important asset to the business than working in the business itself.

When most studio owners hear about a big Black Friday number, their first thought is:
“That must have been chaos.”

Long hours.
Constant posting.
Stressful decisions.
Burnout waiting to happen.

But that’s not what happened here.

One of my private coaching clients — a Pilates studio with two rooms — generated $81,605 over Black Friday weekend, and the process was calm, strategic, and repeatable.

So let’s break down how this actually worked — and what you can learn from it.
