A special moment in the Lowcountry. 🏅
Six Olympians recently came together for their annual reunion, sharing memories and reflecting on the road to the 2026 Winter Games.
We’re especially proud that three of those Olympians — Lenz Jackson, Marval, and Brasseur — are still coaching right here at Carolina Ice Palace. Even more incredible, their friendship is rooted in the fact that they all somehow found their way to calling the Lowcountry home.
It’s a powerful reminder that Olympic legacy lives right here in our rink and in our community.

☀️ Berkeley County’s New Waterfront Park Opening Boat Access May 15! ☀️
Berkeley County plans to open public boat access at its new Waterfront Park site at 933 Broughton Road in Moncks Corner on Friday, May 15, 2026.
This opening pertains to all six boat ramps and parking spaces for at least 180 boat trailers—including accessible boat trailer spaces, make-ready spaces, and tie-down spaces.
Beach access and all other amenities will remain closed until the park’s grand opening this summer.
The site spans approximately 15 acres on Lake Moultrie and is being renovated and expanded to include:
- Space for approximately 36 boats to be docked at the marina
- 4,200 sq. ft. open-air event pavilion
- Walking trail – 0.6 miles around the landing
- Two beaches – 58,000 sq. ft. of beach
- Picnic shelters and benches
- Public restroom facility
- Remodeling of current pavilion – 7,300 sq. ft. to provide space for rental opportunities
- 100’ flagpole with 30 x 50 ft. flag
- Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Safe Boat enclosure and independent dock for emergency services
- Emergency Call stations for 911 in the event of an emergency on site
- Power for vendors on-site during hosted/rented events
- Security cameras and free Wi-Fi
- 565 ft. break wall
- Dredged area to depth of 7.5 ft.
Total cost of the Waterfront Park project is approximately $10.5 million. Funding stems from Berkeley County Delegation “Water Recreation Funds,” Berkeley County Accommodations Tax Funds, SC state budget appropriations, and a US Fish & Wildlife Service grant from the SC Department of Natural Resources. Santee Cooper has also provided a long-term gratis lease to Berkeley County for the project.
Additional costs have been offset by work performed in-house by Berkeley County Roads & Bridges, Berkeley County Facilities & Grounds, and Santee Cooper.
“Opening Atkins Landing in advance of the park opening is critical to meet the demand of our boating community and to relieve the overcrowding at other landing sites. We are excited and look forward to opening the entire park very soon.” -Johnny Cribb, Berkeley County Supervisor
