This was just one of the many loads of donations that were collected during the Scouting for Food drive. Another very successful year helping fill the room at the food shelf. The Cub Scouts did a great job and learned a valuable lesson in contributing to the community and helping others.

Everyone had a great time at our day camping event today at Hoge Base in Walpole. We enjoyed the team activity of setting up and taking down a tent for good practice. Many Wolf and Bear rank requirements were completed today which included discussion of the Outdoor Code and the Leave No Trace principles along with putting the Scouts 6 essentials together before our hike around the area. We introduced the Bears to proper knife safety to start their Whittling Chip requirements. Last item was to talk about fire safety before each Scout gathered the proper kindling and sticks to learn how to set up and light their own fire in the pit. After each Scout successfully started a fire everyone was able to enjoy delicious s’mores! We ended the day with a quick dig in the mine looking for minerals and cool rocks. Thank you to everyone that helped put this together and made it a great day.

The Cub Scouts did a great job today showing their respect by participating in the Charlestown Memorial Day parade. They were happy to be part of the community gathering where we remember those who died in the military while serving their country.

We filled 10 bags this morning on the short stretch of Lower Lovers Lane. Lots of trash and these boys did a great job helping keep Charlestown clean. A special thank you to Charlestown PD for their presence that kept cars slow and us safe.
