If I could take every self development book, every religion, every psychology theory, every guide to living a good life, and boil it down to one thing, it would be this.

Manage your perspective.

We can’t control what lands on our plates. We can choose the version of it that makes us resourceful instead of the version that drowns us.

Here’s how I do it.

1. A few deep breaths to get back in my body.
2. Write down at least two ways to see the situation.
3. Pick the one that takes me where I want to go, and go with it.

Sometimes I need a few more breaths in between. That’s part of it.

Nothing on my list changed between the first time I said it and the second. Only the half I chose to finish the sentence with.

When you miss someone, it means you have someone to love.

I used to rehearse sentences I never said.

I told myself he’d had a long week. I told myself it wasn’t worth it. I told myself I’d bring it up when things settled down.

Things never settled down.

What I called keeping the peace was me carrying all the wars inside me.

It took years of disappointment and self-neglect to realize the only person who can share my voice is me.

I say it now. Not always at the right time, not always the right way.

But I’m not hosting it anymore.

20 years of fun,
loving and passionate marriage
is not luck or coincidence.

It takes intentional choices on what to do and what not to do.

The 5 red flags I catch and address the same day:

🟥. When I change my story so he won’t judge it.

🟥. When I feel relief that he’s out of the house.

🟥. When I keep score and I keep losing.

🟥. When I don’t ask because I decided in advance I won’t get it.

🟥. When we haven’t touched in more than a few days.

Many women after 40 decide to leave because at that age you are done tolerating.

And for too many, by that time the gap is too wide and the scars are too deep.

Noticing the flags is the first step. There’s a solution for each one, and the rest of the steps are coming soon.

If someone came to mind while you read this, send it to her.

Follow for the rest.

Regardless of who’s giving you the advice, if it doesn’t work for you, it doesn’t work.

There’s nothing wrong with you. It’s the advice that doesn’t fit.

All the changes you want, all the progress you want to see, happens when you start trusting yourself enough to stop resisting who you are.

Back in 2016 I was still at my Nine to five, making enough, comfortable.

Someone in the hallway said thank God it’s Friday.

She was happy. I wasn’t.

I didn’t want to be a person who spends five days waiting for two. I wanted every day to mean something.

So I went looking for what I want to be when I grow up.

People started noticing the change in me and coming to me for help. Once I made the scary decision to leave the office, the shift to coaching was almost natural.

It’s 2026. I own a business. I own a home. I coach women for a living, and I stand in front of rooms and speak, with this accent.

The certification program isn’t built yet. That one’s still coming.

The challenges never stopped. I just got better at holding them.

He has never once come to my class.

Ten years of teaching yoga, and my husband has not sat in a single one.

People tell me that isn’t support.

He doesn’t like practicing in a group. That’s the whole reason.

I only know that because I asked.

Nobody tells you that rebuilding after 40 comes with a pile of stories you never checked. You expect to change the job, the routine, the way you spend a Tuesday. You don’t expect to find out how many things you decided quietly, about the people closest to you, and never said out loud.

What’s the thing in your house you’ve decided the meaning of and never once asked about?

They told me that if I wanted to be successful I needed a better brand.

They told me I needed to learn how to speak a certain way.

What to say. Which words to use.

None of it was bad advice. That’s why I kept paying for it.

I got so worried about what to say and what to do that I disconnected from the woman who was doing it.

What I don’t say out loud is what it does to you to sit at your own kitchen table and not be contributing. I could take the empty calendar. That part nearly broke me.

This is what rebuilding after 40 costs. You expect to rebuild the business. You don’t expect the last thing you have to put down to be the woman you were trying to become.

I stopped looking for what was missing.
and who am I supposed to be?

Where in your life are you trying to be someone you’re not?

One of the most loving things we can do in a marriage is allow the other person to be who they are.

Support doesn’t always look like participation.
Love doesn’t always look like agreement.
And difference doesn’t automatically mean disconnection.

Sometimes the problem isn’t who we married.
It’s how hard we keep trying to turn them into someone else.
