Since July of 2015 I've used the Renaissance Periodization diet app (RP diet app) as I was looking for something more "hardcore" and strict compared to if it fits your macros and my fitness pal. For a variety of reasons it's time for me to make the switch to Cronometer going forward. I'll probably outline why I decided to make the switch in due time on my website and then cliff note it on here.
Ive been using the two apps together for a while to make sure I liked cronometer.
As far as my recommendation for clients I think the free versions of both my fitness pal and cronometer give you everything you need to be successful if you're consistent and truthful with you're tracking.
The RP app I think can still work well and the paid gold version of cronometer I believe is worth the upgrade from the free version if you're consistent.
I think out of them all for beginners or people that struggle to remain steady the free version of myfitnesspal is still likely the best "entry level" beginner app.
Anyway, I'm the future I will plan a little write up on why I've decided to switch to cronometer and how it may benefit everyone compared to other apps.
