Some people take photos.
Jeannie DeSena captures moments.

This weekend was full of them. Tiny dancers marching proudly, big smiles, families cheering from the sidelines, and the joy of sharing Irish dance with our Charlotte community.

And Jeannie somehow caught it all.

From the big group moments to the little expressions we might have missed while walking the parade route, these photos tell the story of why this weekend means so much to our dancers and families.

Jeannie, we are so grateful for your incredible talent and the care you put into documenting these memories for our community. These are moments our dancers will look back on for years to come.

Thank you for sharing your gift with all of us.

Wishing everyone an early Happy St. Patrick’s Day from The Reid Academy ☘️

We may have discovered our next Irish dancer ☘️
He saw the stage and decided it was his moment.

Our dancers had the best time performing this weekend ☘️

From marching in the Charlotte St. Patrick’s Day Parade to performing on stage, these dancers represented Reid Academy so well.

POV: You found the perfect activity for your child ☘️

At the Reid Academy, beginner Irish dance classes are all about learning step by step, building rhythm, and having fun along the way.

Many dancers begin with no prior dance experience.

Your child just needs:
✔ comfortable clothes
✔ bare feet, sneakers, or dance shoes
✔ excitement to try something new

We love helping dancers build confidence, coordination, and friendships.

The way I teach timing to beginner Irish dancers ☘️

First we learn the step with our feet.

Then we practice the timing by saying the step while playing instruments.

After a little freestyle fun with the instruments… we dance it again with our feet.

Breaking it down like this helps beginners understand rhythm and build confidence.

Free first class in Charlotte and Cornelius.

Four years old.
First reel step.
High five earned.

Irish dance at this age is about patience, encouragement, and building confidence one step at a time.
