Uptown Doula Uptown Doula offers birth doula support for all families, believes in a gentle non-judgement approac I didn't always want to be a doula.

Our family of five consists of myself, my awesome husband, and our three adorable kids. In fact this kind of work never crossed my mind until after the birth of my second daughter. As a professional Doula in the North Charlotte area I offer personalized prenatal, birthing, and postpartum care along with placenta services. My goal is to give you emotional support, physical comfort, and sustainable knowledge to help guide you through the birth of your baby. I received my birth doula training along with my postpartum placenta encapsulation training from one of the most renowned training companies in the world, ProDoula. I'm also a certified babywearing educator and have been running my babywearing shop and working closely with families since 2013.

When a parent learns their baby has Down syndrome, there can be a lot to process. There can be questions, uncertainty, and so many emotions all at once.

Through the 's First Call Program, I have the opportunity to connect with parents receiving the same diagnosis I received when I was pregnant with Jonas.

Sometimes, you just want to talk to another parent who has been there.

Someone who understands the questions.
Someone who understands the fear.
Someone who can remind you that there is so much more to your baby’s story than a diagnosis.

I’m incredibly grateful that I get to be that person for other families now.

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month 💙💛

When I was 20 weeks pregnant with Jonas, we learned he had Down syndrome. There was so much I didn’t know yet. I didn’t know what our life would look like or what his diagnosis would mean for our family.

Now he’s 10!

If I could go back and sit next to that version of myself, I would have so much to tell her.

Mostly, I would tell her about Jonas.

Not the diagnosis.
Not the statistics.
Not everything I was afraid I didn’t know.

I’d tell her about the funny, smart, loving kid she hadn’t gotten to meet yet.

It’s super important to maintain and protect your mental state when you’re breastfeeding!

Help guard your mind by reading, thinking, and surrounding yourself with positive support. That way, if you do stumble upon a bump in the road (and you very well may), you’ll be in the right mindset to find a solution.
