Why should kids play basketball? 🏀😊 It keeps them active and gives them opportunities to make new friends.

Whether they are just learning the game or competing at a high level, every season can provide valuable experiences both on and off the court.

🏀 Because eligibility rules may differ by event, coaches and families should check the tournament information for specific requirements. All NTBA girls tournaments, including Nationals, feature grade-based divisions.

🏀 Encourage young athletes to practice at game speed. Jogging through drills may teach the movement, but adding realistic speed helps players prepare for competition.

🔥 Quality repetitions can make a big difference when the game is on the line.

Great teams communicate! 🗣️

🏀 Young players should learn to call out screens, talk on defense, and communicate during transitions.

Communication is one of the many valuable skills children can develop through youth basketball.

🏀 Basketball tip: teach young players to keep their eyes up while dribbling. Looking at the floor can make it harder to see teammates, defenders, and passing lanes.

Better court vision can lead to smarter decisions and stronger team play.

Missed shots, tough losses, and challenging practices all create opportunities to learn how to respond, adjust, and keep working. Helping kids become comfortable with improvement instead of perfection can make them stronger athletes and teammates.
