Last week we completed our final week of Summer Camp, and next week is the first week of our RIDE club! These beautiful photos from Agatha Fink were all shot in ONE DAY of our summer camp program, giving you an idea of the diversity and level of engagement our programs for Juniors has to offer.
Whitetail MTB Camps and CLTMTB Junior development CLUB participants will experience the following and SO much more throughout the 2026-27 school year…
SUMMER 2026 Was full of 6 amazing weeks of camp, over 125 new faces, we have now had well over 2,000 individuals attend our Summer camp programs over the years. Many of those kids are now some of the fastest, highly-skilled young adult riders in the area.
SKILLS! throughout the summer camp week, and at the beginning of every weekday CLUB ride, we introduce a skill focus and take riders of all skill levels through a progression of drills to reinforce proper technique, body position & balance, timing & coordination.
BALANCE on the bike and in life are so important to guiding young riders and CLTMTB does it right! Through professional coaching from seasoned, certified coaches, our programs will have your young rider looking forward to their next practice, and falling asleep in the back seat on the way home!
JUMPS are never the first thing we teach anyone, but we have more experience than anyone teaching riders all the finer points of the jump technique. Our diverse collection of MTB Hopper ramps, and other portable features are the BEST way possible to teach in a controlled and predictable environment.
Droooopppp!!! a little bit of airtime off a drop goes a long way to smooth out the trail and make things as fun as possible. From airborne drop technique to roll down lunge keeping the wheels on the ground and everything in between, our riders learn how to safely navigate drops on the trail.
FUN - most importantly, we always keep it fun. In fact some days, the featured skill is to simply remember to have fun on your bike, perhaps by riding the trail in a new way, looking for those side, hits or fun lines, not always focused on seeing how fast you can go.
GAMES on the bike are a great way to keep riders engaged WHILE ALSO working on skills (shhh - don’t tell them, they think it’s just for fun!)
CONFIDENCE is one of the best aspects of teaching younger kids
Our program constantly reinforces, self-reliance, and teaches riders of all ages to take care of themselves and their bicycles. Self-confidence goes a long way in this world, and our riders leave every ride with a little bit more, daily
WRENCH - a key part of that self reliance is learning how to make those minor repairs and adjustments to your mountain bike to keep it running smoothly. Everyone has mechanicals, and the writers who participate in our summer camp or after school ride club program learn how to fix their own flats, make minor adjustments to their shifting, replace a dropped chain, adjust their own brakes, and many other issues that may keep them from riding.
TEAMWORK is huge with us… While MTB is a solo sport, we encourage a positive, supportive team environment. Our GSMBC-Certified Coaches and Teen mentors from our RACE program are always there to lend a hand or offer support. BUT our riders are also encouraged by and pushed to challenge themselves by their peers.
Again… there’s SO much more to our Juniors programming - this is just a taste! Check Out CLTMTB.com for more information on our RIDE program or our RACE team for older riders looking for multidisciplinary competition, from XC to DH and everything in between…
