First things first, everyone has an opinion. It’s okay if you don’t agree with what I’m saying.
As a student of the culture, I have two precedences:
1. In 1990-1991 JayZ boycotted the Grammys simply because DMX dropped 3 albums which all featured No 1 on billboard 100 but he never got nominated for anything.
2. In 2008 - 2010 BET Awards used to present African Acts (Afro-beats) category during the day party, so the African Artists never got televised during the night show that the world watched.
Wiz kid ( the Biggest Afro-beats Artist at the time ) boycotted the following 3 years back to back to back standing in solidarity of all African Artists. Fast forward this led to Afro-beats being recognized on global stages.
Moral of the story, We need to learn to stand for something bigger than us as individuals if we want to see changes being made.
Just my 2cents, what do I know 🤷🏾
