Happiest birthdays to two of our retirees!
Today is sweet Lucy’s 31st birthday, and tomorrow is Desert Storms 35th birthday!!
Lucys favorite thing is being scratched and loved on, and Storms favorite thing is getting ginger snap cookies and Masterson Method sessions from his owner.
We so love our mash eating, fun loving friends. Happy birthday loves!

Barn aisle refresh! Half of our aisle is now matted, and the other half has fresh rock dust! Who needs a gym membership when you get to spread rock dust with a manure fork?

We are loving our new barn aisle benches! A special thank you to Dunn Creations for the love seat bench, and to Alan Box Levene from the McGuffey Art Center in Charlottesville for our 3 seat bench.

Ticks aren’t just a nuisance, they can pose real health risks to your horse. From irritation and skin infections to the potential spread of diseases like Lyme, it’s something every horse owner needs to stay ahead of, especially this time of year.
Prevention is key, and what you use matters. I personally choose Ultra Boss (linked below) over products like Equispot. It’s been more effective for me, and I like having control over the application process. It’s also much more cost-effective, especially when you’ve got a barn full of horses to care for.
I apply it every 6 weeks using a small wool dauber I get on Amazon. (also linked below) This helps me target areas where ticks tend to hide (under the jaw, between and down the legs, down their back, and along the belly line) without over-applying or wasting product.
I’ve been using this product for over 4 years now, and I have never had a horse show any irritation or discomfort. I also add a small amount to my fly spray for an extra layer of protection.
A little consistency goes a long way in keeping your horse comfortable and protected. I like to do this on my horses farrier day, to help me keep track and consistent. (apply after the farrier visit so your farrier isn’t touching oily horse legs)
This is something I include in my boarding services. Keeping horses comfortable and protected is always a priority here and one less thing for my clients to worry about.
If you’ve been battling ticks already this season, it might be time to switch things up. Your horse will thank you!
