Journal Entry: It’s serious, it’s always so serious and becoming more so. Getting serious about being serious. That’s serious
How can we condition ourselves to be so serious without teaching ourselves how to turn it off? It’s great to treat your art, your growth, your business, your relationships with high respect and reverence, but it’s just as, if not, much more important to to get serious about play. “Serious play,” there’s art in that
A child makes the best guide in creating curiosity so that we don’t ever burn out - to keep our hearts and eyes filled with wonder
To teach a dog not to bark you, you have to teach it how to bark on command so you can show it the difference between sound and silence. Same thing for us
So as we learn discipline, also practice playfulness. Turn the switch off. Stop balancing back and forth and learn to integrate the two
Personally, this practice gives me rejuvenation, perspective, and a greater sense of ease in knowing how to be my 100% authentically expressive self at all times. We are human, and it is inevitable that we will lose our way, but this practice teaches us how to use our internal compass to find our feet again

This song I wrote in 2020 early into COVID because I was so anxious that I couldn’t sleep. So I wrote a lullaby to myself about the bliss of sleep 🛌
This song holds a special place in my heart because it’s one of the few pieces of art I’ve ever truly created for myself from a place of self-nurture
I hope this inspires you to take a nap or to have a great night’s sleep this rainy Sunday 💙

The time flies far too fast and I’m almost constantly anxious about it but it’s a reminder to enjoy what we have while we have it. Celebrate what and who you have while it/they are here because it’s all impermanent 🙏

Savasana is the hardest and most important pose in my yoga practice

What can you do when it seems that life as you know it starts to fall apart around you? Pretending doesn’t work, and there’s literally no way to run back toward a place that no longer exists.
We can numb ourselves silly by over-consuming what we know to our core isn’t good for us in the long-term.
We can hide behind relationships and all forms of escapism knowing that this isn’t sustainable.
I loosely remember the first few times I laid down in Savasana.
Sometimes it was peaceful, but even now, sometimes it takes all of my effort to keep it from being a mental and emotional battle and be still
My first time struggling was a battle of resisting the urge to *fix* me, to get up and go, and as I practiced it became clear: learning how to purely feel my emotions and surrender is one of this life’s greatest lessons
Savasana has shown me what happens, when you choose to stop gripping your body so tightly, and decide to release your burdens, and all things out of your control, to the earth
It is often seen as the practice of endings - aka, death, where everything large and small has to experience some type of completion
What we practice here is learning that we’ve done our best *for now* and that it is time to rest and trust that all things will work out as they need to
As the sun peaks in it’s golden light today, make sure to reflect in it’s radiance, and acknowledge that same golden light within yourself also exists, perhaps waiting to be uncovered
Make time to lay down and be
Surrender, acknowledge, let the layers fall off

I’ve barely been in Chattanooga for a year, yet I’ve found myself surrounded by an abundance of truly amazing and wonderful humans ❤️ literally could not fit them all in a single frame 😂
There’s so much truth in what you seek is seeking you, otherwise I never would have found such pillars of support and inspiration - trust that it will always work out and know that you are supported ✨🙏

It’s spring time! 🌸
I strongly encourage each and every one of you to take some time for yourself to settle into the season
Get your bodies in the sun, eyes off the screen, clean out your house (both physically and figuratively), and take a moment to put your bare feet in the grass to discharge stress and reinvigorate the literal cells of your being
That said, I’m listening to my body, and taking my own advice to detox from social media e.g. other people’s thoughts, feelings, achievements, failures, comparisons, and 👏 ENERGY 👏 to tune back into the rhythm of my personal well being
It can be difficult to notice but regardless of who you are, consistent use of social media for even a few minutes a day at a time can accumulate and manifest itself into the quality of your thoughts and opinions
So take time to put yourself first ❤️
