To our WESA Friends,

We wanted to let everyone know that we have decided to not attend the upcoming 2021 Western English Sales Association (WESA) Show in Dallas, Texas. This is due to COVID-19 concerns and the health and well-being of our employees.
To be clear, this is for attending the 2021 January WESA show only.

We are open and working hard with a limited staff while production continues but at a limited capacity. We continue shipping saddles, tack, and our complete line of equine goods to our authorized Big Horn and American Saddlery dealers.

Currently, in-stock items ship ASAP while some out-of-stock items may be back-ordered for several weeks. This is simply due to limited production because of COVID-19 restrictions and we appreciate your understanding.

Our leather department (ShoTan) is open to all customers – no need to be an authorized dealer. We continue to service our walk-in customers and those we ship to with the best in whole sides, veg-tan, latigo, drum dyed leather, bellies, shoulders, and more along with our extensive hardware selection.

Hopefully, we will all be able to get back to normal over the next several months.

Our current hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 3:30 pm Eastern.

FAKE BIG HORN and AMERICAN SADDLERY UPDATE!

We know this warning is getting redundant... but the last several weeks have been crazy with FAKE versions of our saddles being brought to our attention.

FIRST - Thank you so much to several Eagle-Eyed American Saddlery and Big Horn saddle fans! We were alerted to a new wave of FAKE BIGHORN and AMERICAN SADDLERY saddles on EBAY and other platforms weeks ago in July.

After several contacts with the EBAY office in charge of trademark violations - these DANGEROUS saddles from India were finally removed from EBAY... IN AUGUST! Amazon seems to be removing them as well.

These fraudulent sellers seem to reappear about every two months. With our limited staff during COVID-19 it was hard to keep checking EBAY and other platforms for their fraud sales of our brands. Thanks to several of our fans and customers for bringing those listings to our attention.

PLEASE HELP US SPREAD THE WORD! If a brand new saddle on EBAY or AMAZON comes complete with headstall and breast collar and pad for $200 to $600 bucks it is probably made in India or Mexico using dangerous trees, sub-par hardware, and cheap leather that may already be dry rotted.

We won't even go into how the leather on these dangerous saddles is tanned.

Sadly, several USA based sellers are now buying containers and warehouse loads of these saddles and not alerting customers that they are not made in the USA and can't be fixed by your local saddle shop.

We get calls and emails about these saddles every week for repairs and to see if "we" will stand by them. We then have to tell these people that they bought a defective and dangerous saddle from an import company and we did not have anyting to do with it..

Here's the newest trick - the titles and descriptions listed that the saddles literally "had a Big Horn" or that the saddles were made like "all American Style Saddlery" saddles. This was done to have the fake saddles show when buyers searched for "American Saddlery" or "Big Horn" brand saddles.

These sellers, even the USA based ones importing dangerous saddles, load their descriptions and titles with keywords to link them to American Saddlery and Big Horn brand saddles.

BUY AMERICAN! Even if you do not buy one of our saddles under the American Saddlery or Big Horn name - please ask your dealer or the seller if the saddle you are looking at purchasing was made in the USA using quality materials and a safe saddle tree that can be replaced if broken or found to be defective.

Yes, of course, we want you to buy an American Saddlery or Big Horn Saddle. But, we would rather you purchase a quality saddle from any USA maker - even if it is not from us - than you take the risk of you or a family member being injured.

TWO BIG ONLINE SHOPPING WARNINGS!! If you buy a "Big Horn" saddle on Ebay etc... and it is shipping from India... it IS NOT A BIG HORN SADDLE. They are selling saddles with a "Big Horn" as in the horn is big to get past Trademark etc laws. SECOND... If you buy a brand new American Saddlery Saddle online - such as ebay - and it comes NEW complete with Saddle, Pad, Reins, Headstall, Breast Collar etc for $299 - it IS NOT a Made in the USA American Saddlery or Big Horn Saddle. We are being swamped with customers asking for repairs on FAKE and UNSAFE saddles that are made overseas and bought and sold by the container. These CHEAP saddles are unsafe. Please do not fall for these scams!!

Needed Saddle Tack Up Person - Experience required - working knowledge of saddle construction - be able to come in and start. Job is for both leather and synthetic saddles.

Mon-Fri work week 8 am to 3:30.

Tack up assembled parts such as skirts, fenders, etc and finish out saddles. If needed, will be asked to help in other plant areas as well to help production flow. This may include working on tack items etc.

It was awesome to have MeLinda Brown of MeLinda Brown Knives stop by the shop. MeLinda is one of our awesome customers using leather from our ShoTan Leather division and using mostly some of the scrap leather we sell. She uses it for sheaths for her custom made knives! You may have seen her on the TV Show Master of Arms - Check out her work MeLinda Brown Knives We have some amazing craftspeople, artists, saddlemakers, vintage vehicle restorers, cos-play bulders and more putting the whole sides of leather and even scrap leather pieces we sell to good use!
