3D and Digital Twin Improvements in QGIS 4.2
WEBINAR
Presenter: Martin Dobias
Date: 25.6.2026, 13:00 UTC (15:00 CET)
Duration: 30 minutes + 15 minutes Q&A session
About the webinar: With the release of QGIS 4.2 in July 2026, QGIS is getting another major update for 3D capabilities. The goal is to close the gap with expensive proprietary alternatives for dealing with 3D geospatial data and digital twins.
Martin Dobias, a long-time QGIS core developer, will guide you through the recent developments to demonstrate high-performance rendering, support for data formats like ESRIโs scene layers (I3S), useful new point cloud tools, and more.
These 3D enhancements were delivered as a result of a crowdfunding campaign that Lutra Consulting made in cooperation with North Road.
About the presenter: Martin is currently working as the CTO at Lutra Consulting. He has been involved in the QGIS project as a core developer since 2005. In recent years, he has been working on his vision to make 3D geospatial data first class citizens in QGIS.
