If you're looking to get on the water near Chattanooga, be sure to continue to avoid parts of South Chickamauga Creek. "Restrictions for public access of the nearby South Chickamauga Creek Greenway are still in effect, from the Greenway Pedestrian Bridge downstream."

PLUGGED: A sanitary sewer overflow into the South Chickamauga Creek has finally been stopped, nearly a week after it was first noticed. But the South Chickamauga Creek Greenway closure is still in effect and people should not have contact with the water in the area.

Due to the storms associated with Hurricane Isaiah and a shortage of volunteers, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the Ocoee River Race to Saturday, October 17th.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Putting on this event requires 25+ land volunteers to ensure everything runs safely and smoothly.

🌅9/18 TN River Sunset Paddle Trip Report
"We had four paddlers for the Sunset Paddle. The weather was pleasant, the water was calm and we leisurely floated down the river and witnessed a beautiful sunset."

🌎❤️TVCC members making a difference!
"I just want to give a huge shout out to Janea Boyles, Alan Ferguson, Jim Ledbetter, Joe Minton, Judy Norton, Jim Pickren, David Riall, Steve Schwan, and Matt Warren for helping to do a big clean up on the S Chick Creek on 5 miles between Shallowford Rd and Sterchi Farm.
I don't think a clean up has ever been done there before, partly due to lack of access, but I cleared a path from Lightfoot Mill Rd to the creek, which is half way down and saved us a lot of time only having to do 2 sections of 2.5 miles rather that the whole 5 miles with full boats.
Most did a day but Steve did 5 days, and while the rest of us picked up 53 tires and other trash Steve managed to get 62 tires by himself, which is exhausting digging them out of the mud and cleaning them before the risky transport with top heavy loaded boats through 5 Cherokee fish weir rapids. Extra big shout out to Steve.
That's 115 tires and other trash.
See the 2nd last photo of the Fish Weir. The Cherokee built a rock wall at an angle across the creeks and had an opening at the downstream end. The men would go upstream and stomp and make noise to drive the fish downstream, and the women would catch them with baskets at the opening.
Steve has his tires at his house (last photo), and I have the rest of the stuff at our house, which we'll be taking to the TVCC TN River Rescue Day station this Saturday at Camp Jordan, which will be run by David doing a clean up on the W Chick. Thank you David.
The TN River Rescue is an annual event and is sponsored by TVA, and there will be 55 stations all along the 652 mile TN River.
