Upcoming dive trip to Grand Cayman
Took 17 people to Belize-just got back!
Don’t miss the next one!!
Hey Divers,
I’ve gone three times in the last year and a half to Ramon’s Village in Ambergris Caye, Belize. I have liked every time so much, I just couldn’t stop myself from going again! That said, I’m doing a trip there this coming June 8-15, 2024. This time, you have the option of staying at Steve and Becky’s (across the street from the main resort in a garden setting), or staying at Ramon’s in a standard Seaside room- YOUR CHOICE until I run out of rooms!
The cost is $1,395 per diver, double occupancy at Steve and Becky’s (2 queen beds per unit) and $1,595 per diver, double occupancy (2 queen beds per unit) in a Seaside room at Ramon’s. This is includes your room, taxes, transfers from the airport, 6 days of 2 tank dives, breakfast daily, and taxes. Non-diver rates are approximately $500 per person less per week. There is a restaurant on the premises, and several others a short walk from the resort. There’s also a really neat wine place and an outdoor bar within about 2 minutes of where we stay. They do rent golf carts if you want to tour downtown San Pedro, but you could stay for the week without renting anything if you wanted. Generally, we split the cost of a cart between four people and it’s about $60-70 for five days, if I recall correctly. There are several nice restaurants in the town and several places to shop for souvenirs.
The plane ride from Belize City airport to the island is $175 per person round trip, and right now the cost to fly from Atlanta to Belize City is about $850 on Delta. We generally buy lunch stuff at a local store (less than a block from the resort), so your only meal out is dinner unless you want to hit the bar next to the airport or go to the ice cream shop next to it.
For those who did not dive the Blue Hole or want to do that again, the cost is about $235 per diver. To dive North Turneffe the cost is about $120 per diver. Both of these excursions include 3 dives, lunch and snacks. Afternoon dives are about $40 with tax.
I love this place, and you will as well. Call, Text, or email me if you want to go: 423-618-8111 or [email protected]. If you are going I need to know by December 05, 2023 at the latest to lock in your space-- their rules, not mine! I have several who have told me they are in, and at this point I may be able to get more rooms, but I had to beg my rep for the property in order to work this out so we could go in mid-June! Believe it or not there was only one other week available before early August! This truly is, in my opinion, the best bang for the buck in the Caribbean…
If you want a single room for yourself, rates are as follows: $1,772 per diver at Steve and Becky’s and $2,344 per diver at Ramon’s standard Seaside.
As most of you know, I’ve been all over the Caribbean over the last 30+ years and I’d put this place up against anywhere I’ve been-I got great pictures underwater here because there is nearly always something to see!
If you want to join us, I need to hear from you by December 5th, and I need a $250 deposit in my hands by December 8,, 2023.
Look forward to hearing from you shortly. Call my cell with any questions: 423-618-8111.

Refresher Course and Dive Trip
Several have asked about a refresher course for those who have not been in the water for a good while at the same time I teach the open water course April 14, 15 & 16. You need to register online for this with Choo Choo Diving and Aquatic Center- You go to: divessi.com and apply for Scuba Skills Update. Let me know if you have any trouble and we’ll get you fixed up. Also, If you can’t get me, you can call Malu or Linda at the shop (423-899-1008) and they’ll get you through the computer maze with SSI. The cost is $189 for one, or $228 per couple to do the course (please know that 100% of this also goes to the dive shop). You’ll also fill out a health risk questionnaire just like a beginning diver and there are some study questions as well. No test. Again, if you have not been in the water for some time this is a very good idea – especially if you are taking a dive trip this summer with me or anybody else!
As I mentioned before, I went with Choo Choo Dive twice last year to Ramon’s Village in Ambergris Caye, Belize. I liked the first time so much, I just could not turn down the second trip! That said, our trip is August 5-12, 2023 The cost is Less than I quoted!!! Approximately, $1,195 per diver, double occupancy. (Approximately $1,595 Single Occupancy). This is includes your room, taxes, transfers from the airport, 6 days of 2 tank dives, breakfast daily and taxes. You will pay $175 per person to fly from Belize City to Ambergris Caye (town of San Pedro) where we are staying, unless you want to take a water taxi (No Glenda, I don’t know what that costs) . I have also included some sample rates from Atlanta to Belize, with both Delta and American, as it’s cheaper than coming from Chattanooga, and the trip back involves about a 5 hour layover in Atlanta. You can actually walk from the airport at San Pedro to the resort in under 2 minutes, but they will take you AND your luggage on a golf cart as part of the package… There is a restaurant on the premises, and several others a short walk from the resort. There’s also a really neat wine place, and an outdoor bar in opposite directions, both within about 2 minutes of where we stay. They do rent golf carts if you want to tour downtown San Pedro, but you could stay for the week without renting anything if you wanted. I love this place, and you will as well. Call, Text, or email me if you want to go: 423-618-8111 or [email protected]. I need a deposit of $200 by February 7, 2023. Please send that to my home address. Listed below.
I am holding extra rooms at this rate for just a few days, so let me know if anyone you know would like to join us! Eventually they will make me pay more money to hold the rooms, but right this moment I have several singles (Michelle, Glenda, Me & Steve) and about 5 doubles. We are staying at Steve and Becky’s which has a garden view and very nice rooms -I’ve stayed here twice and was very satisfied with my quarters.
As most of you know, I’ve been all over the Caribbean over the last 30+ years and I’d put either of these place up against anywhere I’ve been-it is great IMO, especially for what you pay…There are picture books of both places at the dive shop if you are interested in seeing what’s underwater or you can come to my office!
I trust this is helpful to all – so looking forward to being with ya’ll ….

Dear fellow divers and ‘wanna be’ Scuba divers,

Each day will include both academic and in water pool sessions to get you ready for your open water dives to be a certified diver. If you are interested please call me and let me know or you can simply go to the web site: divessi.com , click on ‘Get Certified’ and the click on ‘Open Water Diver’, and sign up for the class. For those who need help with what fins, mask and snorkel you need to purchase, I’ll be at the shop around 4:30 PM on Friday, before the 6:00PM start of class on Friday, April 29 to help you pick that out, and assure you have the proper fit.
2- I’ll do a refresher course for those who have not been in the water for a good while at the same time I teach the open water course April 29 and 30, and May 1. 3-Choo Choo Dive is doing a trip to Cozumel from May 28 – June 4, 2022. A flyer is attached to this mailing giving you the details. As you can see, this is an “all-inclusive package” which includes meals and diving! I will likely go on this trip myself, so hopefully you can join me.
4-Finally, I am going with Choo Choo Dive to Belize on August 13 – 20, 2022. This is somewhere I’ve wanted to go for a long time, so I’ll be along for this trip. The cost is $1,459 per diver, double occupancy. There is only room for 6 divers and 1 single male diver left on this one, so please let me know quickly if you want to join us.
Look forward to seeing some of you shortly! Call my cell with any questions: 423-618-8111.

“Going To A Perennial Favorite of both dive shops that I’ve worked with.”
On Roatan’s South shore, Coco View is perched on the edge of the world’s second largest coral reef. It boasts spectacular and extremely convenient diving in very clear water.
A dedicated dive resort, Coco view has as much repeat dive business as any resort on the planet. You can take the boat out for a 2 tank dive, or grab a tank and go explore the pristine coral walls and 140’ wreck on your own right in front of the property. Shore diving is available whenever it suits your fancy.
Dive boats depart from close to your doorstep every day. Roll out of bed and onto the waiting dive boat or into the water-or both!
When your dive tank is empty, chances are so is your stomach. Fill up between dives for breakfast, lunch and dinner at the resort- all meals are included in the package, so we don’t have to worry about where we are going to eat.
There are many more dive sites than we can dive in a week with a great variety of sea life so, there is plenty to see.
I am currently holding 1 additional double occupancy units- all ocean view units. I have to pay a second deposit by March 10th and once they are gone, they are gone for good I am told. The resort normally stays full. We’ll also accommodate singles, non-divers, arrange for triple occupancy, etc. on request.
Dive package includes the following:
7 nights’ accommodations in ocean view units that are air conditioned with mini fridges, coffee pots, hammocks, and maid service. Ocean views are standard with every room.
Hotel tax and service charge
6 days two tank boat dives with full valet dive service
Unlimited shore diving with tanks & weights provided
Buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner daily
Transportation to and from the airport provided
$1,895 per diver - double occupancy in unit
$1,795 non-diver – double occupancy
Not included in this price is airfare, Nitrox, dive boat gratuities, adult beverages, or fountain drinks.
For those who don’t yet dive, I’m scheduled to teach a class at Choo Choo Dive in either April or May, so you could learn and go. I’ll also do an Advanced Open Water Class and a Nitrox class at the resort if the academics are done before you leave the states.
If you would like to join us, I need a $300 non-refundable deposit in my hands by March 10th, 2020. It’s literally first come, first served for the 1 room that is left. I have to comply with their rules – I don’t make them. As always call if you have any questions (423) 618-8111.
Look forward to being with you in the island mon!
