May is where we sharpen the blade.
This month at Always Finish Weightlifting, we’re dialing things back to what actually moves the needle: The fundamentals. The basics. The unglamorous reps that build lifters who last.
Expect positions to be cleaned up. Footwork to be intentional. Timing to be challenged. We’re not chasing flashy numbers right now, we’re building the kind of consistency that makes big numbers inevitable.
Snatches that feel smoother. Cleans that land stronger. Jerks that lock in with confidence.
If you’ve ever felt like something is “just a little off” in your lifts… this is your month.
Trust the process. Master the basics. The kilos will follow.
Always Finish.

Footwork is the quiet architect of every great lift.
You can have all the strength in the world, but if your feet don’t know where to go, the bar doesn’t care. It’ll drift, crash, or pin you in a position you never meant to be in.
In the sn**ch and clean & jerk, your feet are your steering wheel and your brakes. They dictate balance, timing, and how efficiently you receive the bar. Missed lifts aren’t always about pulling harder… sometimes it’s about landing better.
Think about it:• Are your feet consistent in the pull?• Do they move with intention or just react?• Are you landing in a position you can actually own?
Dial in your footwork and suddenly everything sharpens. The bar path cleans up. The catch feels lighter. Confidence goes up.
Strong legs matter. Fast hips matter. But precise feet? That’s where control lives.
Train your feet like they’re part of of the lift, because they are.

DM me to get started!!!
March programming is here!!! Doing things a little different for the first couple of weeks and THEN we are starting an overhead strength and stability focused cycle. But don’t worry, we will not be neglecting the full lifts or anything like that!

Part 4: Trust, Patience & Long-Term Thinking
“Let the Process Work”
Olympic lifting rewards patience more than urgency.
Progress isn’t linear, but it is cumulative.
Be mindful:
• Trusting the program even when progress feels slow
• Avoiding the trap of constant max testing
• Understanding cycles, deloads, and long arcs of development
• Playing the long game instead of chasing weekly validation
🧠 You’re not behind. You’re building.
“Stay where your feet are.”

Part 3: Resilience & Missing Lifts
‼️What You Do After the Miss Matters More
Misses are not failures. They’re data.
Resilient lifters don’t avoid misses, they respond to them well.
• Emotional control after a missed lift
• Not spiraling after one bad rep or session
• Separating identity from performance
• Using misses to refine timing, positions, and patience
🧠
The platform doesn’t care about your feelings, but your future lifts do.
“Reset. Learn. Lift again.”

Part 2: Purpose Driven Training
“Know Why the Bar Is Heavy”
Mindless reps feel heavier than intentional ones.
Every lift should answer a question: What am I trying to build today?
• Training with a goal beyond “get tired”
• Understanding the purpose of accessories, tempos, and percentages
• The difference between lifting for ego vs lifting for progress
• How clarity reduces frustration and comparison
🧠 When the why is clear, the work feels lighter.
“Before the set, say the purpose.”

Part 1: Habits & Best Practices
“The Quiet Wins Nobody Sees”
Olympic lifting isn’t won on max out days. It’s won in the boring, repeatable moments.
“Great lifts are a side effect of great habits”
• Showing up on time and warming up with intent
• Treating every rep like it matters, even at 60%
• Logging lifts, noting patterns, owning misses instead of hiding from them
• Consistency beats intensity when intensity has no discipline
🧠You don’t rise to your PRs. You fall to your habits.
“Today, execute the basics perfectly.”
👁️👁️ Current mesocycle has me in full tunnel vision mode, but here’s where the squad is heading right now.
This cycle’s focus: building the pieces that feed the sn**ch and the clean and jerk.
Think positions. Think speed. Think consistency.
We’re stacking small, high quality reps so the big lifts feel like loading a round into a well oiled lever action.
If you’re in class this week, expect:
• Squat waves to reinforce leg drive
• Pull variations to sharpen bar path
• Overhead stability work to make the catch feel unshakeable
• Just enough volume to remind your soul you signed up for this
Show up. Stack reps. Leave better than you walked in.
On to the next one. ALWAYS FINISH
🏋🏻♂️🏋️♀️🏋🏽Kickin off the new year with a great 8 week mesocycle!
