❤️🏁 FROM OUR FAMILY AT PARADISE RACEWAY — THANK YOU 🏁❤️

After finally getting a chance to breathe and reflect on this past weekend, we want to take a moment to say something that sometimes gets lost in the chaos of race day…

THANK YOU.

Thank you to every single racer, family, crew member, sponsor, vendor, and supporter who came through the gates for the 2026 Labor Day Bash.

476 ENTRIES.
For a ONE-DAY SHOW.

We honestly cannot thank you enough for trusting us with your Labor Day weekend. We know how much time, money, preparation, and sacrifice goes into coming to the races, and we don't take that for granted.

Was the day perfect? Absolutely not.

We know the day ran much later than anyone wanted, and we sincerely apologize for the late-night track conditions and the length of the day. There were several different things that contributed to what happened with the track, and we will be addressing those issues.

We aren't going to make excuses. We own it. We hear you. And we WILL do better.

We also stepped outside the box and tried a different format this weekend — Practice → Qualify → Heat → Main. We've already heard from a lot of racers who really enjoyed this format, and that means a lot to us. We appreciate everyone being willing to try something different and giving us your honest feedback.

🔥 And then there was the Dirty Tire Class… 🔥

31 ENTRIES and absolutely phenomenal feedback!

That class was something we were excited about, and seeing the response from the racers made it worth it. We are looking forward to continuing to build on it.

And when it was all said and done…

💰 $78,000 PAID OUT IN PRIZE MONEY 💰
🏁 165 PEOPLE RECEIVED A PAYOUT 🏁

That is something we are extremely proud of.

We put a lot of time, money, sweat, stress, and heart into trying to give racers a great place to come race and a chance to take money home. We don't always get everything right, but our intentions have always been to give back to the racing community and make Paradise Raceway a place people WANT to come to.

To those who stayed with us through the long night — thank you.

To those who were frustrated — we understand.

To those who offered constructive criticism — we heard you.

And to those who continued to support us even when things didn't go exactly as planned — you will never know how much that means to us.

At the end of the day, Paradise Raceway isn't just a track.

It's our family.
It's our passion.
It's our livelihood.
And most importantly, it's a place built for racers.

We may not always agree on everything, but we promise we're listening. We will take what happened this weekend, learn from it, fix what needs to be fixed, and come back stronger.

476 entries. $78,000 paid out. 165 payouts. 31 Dirty Tire racers. One VERY long day. 😂🏁

We couldn't have done any of it without YOU.

From the bottom of our hearts…

THANK YOU for supporting Paradise Raceway. ❤️

We'll see you at the track. 🏁🔥

Some questions have been ask about Weather. Well as everyone knows it’s Summer Time and also it’s extremely hard to have confidence in any Weather prediction. It might rain one mile down the road and not where we are.
We are Racing. If it rains we will wait it out and get the track back and Race.
We want to race just as bad as anyone.
If a Monsoon happens then we will pay just like any other race. It will be based on qualifying or how you finish the Heat Races.
And the Forecast this morning looks better.

I have to be honest- I’m not quite sure where to start.

I suppose I can start by saying that I had hoped to bring you good news this morning about 24-year-old Baylee Johnson of Sumter, South Carolina.

Yesterday afternoon, her uncle- who also serves as the family pastor- called to tell me the family was asking for prayers.

Jim Johnson told me about his niece.
She had a heart of gold.
She was 15 weeks along.
Baylee- along with Justin Lowder- had planned on naming their baby boy “Johnny”.

Jim was on his way to McLeod Medical Center in Florence, S.C.
That’s where Baylee was- unconscious and on a ventilator.
“The baby’s heartbeat remains strong,” Pastor Jim told me.

The pastor greeted Baylee’s parents Rick and Robin shortly after we chatted.
It had been almost 8 days since the accident and the family was hoping Good News was on its way.

Pastor Jim told me about the accident.
It happened a week ago Sunday when Baylee- a former competitive go-kart racer- was visiting friends who had just installed a hobby track in their back yard.

“It had been 4 years since Baylee had been in a go-kart,” said Pastor Jim.
“Baylee knew she had to be careful, so she hopped in the go-kart and slowly drove around the track. Baylee was coming to a stop after taking a few slow laps when it happened,” added the pastor.

Somehow, Baylee’s long dark hair came out from her helmet and her jacket.
“Her hair became wrapped around the rear axle,” said the pastor.
Baylee was yanked backward over the seat.
They cut Baylee’s hair to release her.

Baylee stopped breathing.
Baylee’s father Rick along with a friend did CPR until medics arrived.
They brought Baylee back.
She was rushed to Florence.

For over a week, Baylee fought hard.
Pastor Jim was hopeful as he chatted with me early yesterday afternoon.
He told me he would update me late yesterday.

I returned home last night from a speaking engagement in Selma when I saw the text.
“Baylee went to Heaven this afternoon (along with Johnny)”, the text read.
My heart jumped.
And then it sank.

Baylee’s father Rick released his thoughts last night:

“Today at 3:31 p.m., my daughter Baylee and my grandson- Baby Johnny- went home to Heaven together.

“Glory, glory, hallelujah! They are in the arms of Jesus! Healed, whole, and at peace.

“Thank you to everyone who has prayed for us, supported us, and shown so much love to our family.
This has been an incredibly difficult week, and we know the days ahead will be just as hard.

“Please continue to give God the glory, our family grace as we grieve, and please keep us in your prayers.

“We love and appreciate every one of you.”

This is no doubt a terribly sad story- in fact, I thought long and hard about posting this until Pastor Jim encouraged me to do so.

Jim wants us to know that Baylee had a close relationship with Jesus, and he says faith will get the family through.

“God does not make mistakes,” Pastor Jim said.

He told me regardless of what might happen, Baylee was forever a winner.

*Let’s be comforted in knowing that Baylee and Johnny will be with Jesus forever.

*Please send your condolences to Justin, Baylee’s parents Rick and Robin and the extended family.
