One of the ways our DDC families can peek into what's happening inside the classroom is through SpotTV!

We love being able to give parents the opportunity to watch their dancer learn while still giving our dancers the independence of having class with their teacher.

And here's our biggest SpotTV reminder:

What you're seeing is a CLASS, not a performance.

You're going to see mistakes. You're going to see teachers correcting dancers. You may see your child struggle with something. You might even see them staring into space when they're supposed to be practicing.

That's learning!

We ask our parents to let class stay between the dancer and teacher. Cheer them on, celebrate their progress and let our teachers handle corrections and instruction.

Sometimes the best thing you can say after class is simply:

"I loved watching you dance!" 💜

🎒 3 DAYS UNTIL WE DANCE!

It's officially time to start packing those dance bags!

Before your dancer's first class, double-check their class dress code and make sure they have the correct shoes.

Hair should be secured away from the face so dancers can move safely and teachers can see their alignment and technique.

We also recommend bringing a labeled water bottle and keeping dance shoes together in a labeled dance bag.

And when we say LABEL EVERYTHING, we mean EVERYTHING.

Shoes. Water bottles. Bags. Jackets. If it comes into the studio and you'd like it to come home again, put that name on it!

Missing something during the first week? Don't panic. Just communicate with us and we'll help you figure it out. We have extra shoes if your dancer needs them!💜

Different teachers. Different strengths. One DDC Way. 💜✨

No two teachers at DDC teach exactly the same and we think that’s something pretty special.

Each member of our teaching staff brings their own personality, strengths, experiences, and little bit of magic into the classroom. Some of us will challenge you, some will slow it down, some will help you work through the hard things, some will remind you not to sell yourself short, and some might even sing the directions.

But underneath all of those differences, we share the same beliefs.

We believe in our dancers.
We meet them where they are.
We celebrate progress over perfection.
We teach kindness, confidence, hard work, and resilience.
We want every dancer to feel safe, seen, supported, and challenged to grow.

Because at DDC, we aren't trying to create one kind of dancer and we aren't trying to be one kind of teacher.

We teach the dancer. We care about the person. And we do it the DDC Way. 💜

🥹 4 DAYS UNTIL WE DANCE!

Parents of our littlest dancers, this one is especially for YOU. 💜

Your dancer may walk into their first class without looking back.

Or...

They may cling to your leg like their life depends on it.

They may cry. They may suddenly decide they don't like dance. They may be excited all day and change their mind the second it's time to walk through the classroom door.

All of those things can be completely normal.

For many of our youngest dancers, dance class is one of their first independent activities without their grown-up beside them. Learning to separate, trust their teacher and become comfortable in a new environment is a skill all by itself!

Give them a confident hug, tell them you'll see them after class, and let us work our teacher magic. ✨

We know how to redirect, comfort and engage our little dancers, and if your child truly needs you, we will come get you.

A tearful goodbye doesn't necessarily mean they're having a terrible time. Sometimes the tears stop the second that classroom door closes.

Consistency is HUGE. Give them time to learn the routine and feel safe.

We're not expecting perfect little dancers on Day 1.

We're building confident little humans, too. 💜

Whether you danced growing up, haven’t danced in YEARS, or have always wanted to try, this would be all about moving, having fun, learning something new, and enjoying some time for YOU!

💜 5 DAYS UNTIL WE DANCE!

New to DDC or haven't seen suite 223? Here's what to expect when you arrive!

We recommend arriving about 5–10 minutes before class. That gives your dancer enough time to use the bathroom, change shoes, put their belongings away and settle in without feeling rushed.

Please make sure dance shoes, bags and water bottles are labeled. We promise you that ballet shoes all start looking VERY similar once there are 20 pairs in the studio.

Have your dancer ready when their teacher calls their class, give them a hug, and let us take it from there!

Especially during the first few weeks, we're learning much more than dance steps. We're learning names, classroom routines, where our things belong, how class transitions work and becoming comfortable with our teachers and classmates.

Before you know it, they'll be walking through those doors like they own the place. 💜

Let's talk ACRO!

Acro at DDC combines dance technique with acrobatic skills while focusing on strength, flexibility, balance, limbering and tumbling.

And one thing we want parents to know: Acro is about progression, not rushing to the biggest trick!

Our dancers build the strength, flexibility and foundational skills they need before progressing to more difficult skills. Every dancer's journey looks a little different, and that's okay!

Our goal isn't simply to get a new trick. It's to develop strong, safe dancers who understand how to perform their skills correctly. 💪💜

Today we're talking about one of our most expressive styles: Lyrical!

Lyrical combines dance technique with musicality, emotion and storytelling. Dancers learn how to connect their movement to the music while developing strength, control, fluidity, transitions and performance quality.

It's not just about learning what movement comes next. We want our dancers to begin understanding why they're moving that way and what they're communicating to their audience.

Technique + musicality + expression = a whole lot of beautiful dancing. 💜
