At 90 years old, Thelma Jones from Southfield, Michigan, earned her 5th-degree black belt in Isshinryu karate.

This isn't just a story about a woman breaking barriers in martial arts; it's about five decades of commitment, strength, and resilience. While most people her age are slowing down, Jones is still in the dojo three times a week, proving there’s no age limit to pursuing your passions.

Thelma Jones is rewriting the rulebook on aging. Her story shows that with the right mindset, dedication, and a lifetime of wisdom, you can still achieve greatness — no matter how many candles are on your birthday cake.

We are sad to inform our karate family and community that Master Al Smith has passed. He was a good person and committed friend and martial artist, he will be missed.

Congratulations to everyone that was promoted last night.
