At the Project Healing Waters, Richmond program. We are dedicated to healing America’s Veterans through the therapeutic art of fly fishing.

We aim to foster restoration, resilience, community, and lasting connections in the journey towards healing. Project Healing Waters is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization incorporated in the State of Maryland. PHWFF is dependent on tax-deductible donations and the help of numerous volunteers to meet the educational, equipment, transportation, and related needs of the participants.

Fall bass on the Pamunkey. 🎣🇺🇸

This past Sunday, we got out on the Pamunkey River with our fly rods, targeting fall bass. Good time on the water with good people, that's what it's all about.

Thankful for days like this, and for everyone who came out.

Time on the water, time helping each other, and time around a fire with the stars over you — that's what makes these trips so special.

🎣 Making Memories at Legends of the Fly — Virginia Beach! 🇺🇸

One of our PHW participants had the opportunity to attend Legends of the Fly in Virginia Beach, enjoying time on the water, connecting with fellow anglers, and sharing the healing power of fly fishing.

For our veterans, moments like these are about more than fishing. They’re about camaraderie, community, healing, and finding peace on the water. 💙🎣

We’re proud to see our participants getting out there, making memories, and continuing their journey through fly fishing.

Some places just get it. 🎣🇺🇸

Participants spend a couple days at Patriots Cove in Pennsylvania with fellow veterans, and what they're doing there is the real deal. An easily accessible trout stream, wheelchair-accessible hunting blinds, track chairs, even a wheelchair-accessible fishing docks, everything built so every veteran can get out there, fish or hunt, safely and on their own terms. Full ADA facilities throughout.

This is what healing looks like: veterans taking care of veterans, nobody left on the sidelines.

Another Great Wednesday Night of Fly Tying!

We had a great turnout for our Project Healing Waters tying session, getting behind the vise and tying up the San Juan Worm!

Great flies, great conversation, plenty of laughs, and even better company. It’s always awesome seeing everyone helping each other, sharing knowledge, and enjoying time together.
