Jackson-Reed Crew

Wilson Crew is supported by a non-profit, 501(c)3 with the mission to promote rowing in the DC public school system. Our vision is to be a nationally-ranked public high school rowing team that reflects the diversity of the nation’s capital. Wilson Crew was founded in 1985 and the team is the oldest and only public school rowing program in the city. With roughly 100 athletes each season, split equally between our men and women’s teams, Wilson Crew is one of the high school’s largest teams. Wilson Crew also operates a feeder training program for middle schoolers. Wilson Crew provides DC youth the ability to become active, involved and passionate about one of the oldest and widely respected sports in the world. Through the sport of rowing, we strive to teach middle and high school students hard work, accountability, dedication, and leadership. As a club sport, we must raise our own funds to operate the team. We count on support from individuals and businesses to keep this incredible team and community thriving. We strive to make every sponsor proud of our work and our mission. The team, in our 35th year of competition, competes at the highest levels – including winning the boys national championship at the 2019 Scholastic Rowing Association of America (SRAA) Championship. Over our team’s history, rowers have leveraged their success on the water to receive admittance, and in some cases a full scholarship, to the country’s top universities including the US Naval Academy, Harvard, Boston University, Temple, University of Wisconsin, Tufts, Syracuse, Yale, Smith College, Dartmouth, and more. Crew is an expensive sport and that can be daunting to high school families in the District of Columbia. While we wish crew required just a pair of running shoes or a swimsuit, it doesn’t. The Booster’s goal is to welcome any athlete to Wilson Crew, regardless of ability to pay.
