Next up is Jorn White!

Jorn has been holding it down on the starboard side for five years, getting his start all the way back in 8th grade Learn to Row. He’s built up a seriously impressive collection of medals during his time with the team, including a 3rd place finish at Mid-Atlantics in 2023, a WMIRA gold that same year, and capping it off with another massive 1st place WMIRA finish in 2025. He’s spent his senior season anchoring stern in both the V1 and V2 boats, showing he can blend into any lineup and make it fast.
Off the water, Jorn is strictly a fan of afternoon practices (morning rows are definitely not his thing). His favorite memory: his boat hit a flawless gunnel tap right through the finish line at WMIRAs just because they were so far ahead of everyone else. He definitely took the coaches’ simple advice to heart over the last five years: “Row fast, row hard.”

We know Jorn is going to absolutely crush it rowing for the US Coast Guard Academy this fall, and study Marine and Environmental Sciences!

Senior Oar Graduation Day 🧑‍🎓

Next up is Diego Elacqua.

Diego has rowed with Jackson-Reed for 4 years as a port in both the V1 and V2 8+ boats.

His career highlights include a WMIRA Silver Medal in the 1V 8+ in 2025, reaching the Stotesbury Cup 2V 8+ Grand Finals in 2024, and racing in a 4+ at the Head of the Charles. On the water, Diego is a literal dog. He’s the guy everyone on the team knows is going to lock in and pull insanely hard, no questions asked.

Diego preferred Saturday practices and always looked forward to the spring regatta season. One of his favorite memories was the team celebration after winning WMIRA during his freshman year.

Diego is taking his talents up north to McGill University this fall. He leaves the freshmen with a simple piece of advice:
“don’t underestimate yourself.”

Congratulations, Clementine “Clem”!

Clem is coming to us from School Without Walls and has been rowing on the starboard side for five years, starting all the way back in 8th grade Learn to Row. She’s built quite the collection of metals with the V2 and V3 boats, including a first-place finish at the TBC Tussle, a gold medal at the spring Occoquan regatta, and a legendary second-place finish at 2025 WMIRAs by a literal hair (0.4 seconds!).

When she’s not rowing, Clem may be seen stealing Libby’s homemade sugar cookies, or trying out her coxing skill (once) and nearly crashing with Adler during practice. Regardless, Clem embraced Coach Andrew’s advice to “drop positive pebbles.”

More randomly, we know that rowing with Clem means embracing her absolute obsession with bird watching. She is constantly scouting the skies, to the point where she’ll turn a quick water break into a full-on Discovery Channel birding expedition. Her dedication is so deep that during our pre-race warm-ups, while rowing to the start line, Clem will be scanning the horizon for the “lucky” heron. The thing is, we all totally bought into this ritual... because if Clem spotted one, we seemed to ALWAYS win!

Clem is taking a gap year in Seattle, this year and then plans to dive into her Biochemistry degree. We love you, Clem! Good luck in Seattle!

Our next Senior is our Coxswain Maya!

Maya is easily one of our most versatile athletes, having spent years as a coxswain for both the Boys and the Girls Varsity programs. Whether she is in a 4 or an 8, Maya has that rare ability to lead any boat, anywhere, with total confidence. Her resume is huge, including a 2nd place finish at Stotesbury (Men’s 1V) and a 3rd at SRAAs (freshman boys), as well as a team record at HOCR with the Girls’ 1V 8+.

Everyone knows Maya for bringing the intensity on the water and then the pep and sunshine on land. Beyond the medals, Maya has been such an amazing leader, always willing to help younger coxswains on the team and give the perfect amount of feedback to rowers.

We are so excited to see her head off to the Fisher School of Business at THE Ohio State University this fall. Maya, we know you will bring that same focus and leadership to Columbus.

Next up is the one and only Maya Goldman!

Maya has been a total staple of the Girls Varsity program for all four years, and her energy on the water is honestly unmatched. As a coxswain, her resume is stacked, from taking 2nd at Stotesbury in the Girls’ 2V 8+ (two years in a row), to crushing multiple 1st place finishes at the Philly Flick and WMIRAs. But when she isn’t steering us to victory, she’s usually acting as the team’s designated chauffeur, somehow cramming half the varsity lineup and a literal mountain of gear into her car for the daily mad dash from Jackson-Reed down to Thompson Boat Center.

If you ever need a hype up or just a friendly face to talk to, Maya is 100% your girl. She has this amazing way of making everyone feel included on land, and then she brings that exact same lifting energy right into the boat. We will never forget those freezing morning practices where she kept us all wide awake with her hilariously dramatic stories from the coxswain seat. In fact, one of the most epic moments was the time Coach Andrew asked the boat if Maya was “always this loud,” and instead of toning it down, she literally turned up her microphone.

She is heading off to the University of Virginia next year, leaving our freshmen with some great advice: “Always take time to watch the sunrise over the monuments during morning practices.”

We are going to miss you so much, Maya!
