Whether it’s behind a pool cue, on the disc golf course, or simply showing up on a hard day — the breakthrough is bigger than the game.

Mo the Rhino and Nate the Sloth remind us that champions don’t all look the same, move the same, or walk the same path.

But we can all grow.
We can all find purpose.
And we can all become stronger together. ❤️🤍💙

Today we honor our freedom.

Today was one of the biggest milestones in Operation Breakthrough history.

What started as a morning of disc golf became something much bigger.

🏌️ Disc golf.
🥪 A community picnic.
🎳 Adaptive bowling.

Army and Navy veterans…
Adaptive athletes…
A young future champion…
Families…
Mentors…

All spending the day together.

One moment that will stay with me happened before bowling even began.

Big Bear quietly told me he was thinking about leaving because there were so many people.

I told him, “None of these people are really people-people either. Let’s just have a sandwich together.”

He stayed.

Then he did something he didn’t think he could do.

He bowled for the first time since losing his leg.

Watching Mazi show him different ways to bowl from his wheelchair was incredible.

Then Robert Garcia—our Adaptive Mentor—showed everyone what determination looks like. Standing on one prosthetic leg, throwing a 14-pound bowling ball, he rolled multiple strikes and inspired everyone around him.

Apollo learned that sports are about having fun, not being perfect.

Nathaniel, one of our Navy combat veterans, joined us for disc golf and spent the day building new friendships.

Kevin helped create smiles that can’t be captured in a single photograph.

There was laughter.

Encouragement.

High-fives.

Stories.

No one cared about scores.

Today wasn’t about bowling.

It wasn’t about disc golf.

It wasn’t even about pool.

It was about reminding people they still belong.

This is Operation Breakthrough.

More Than Pool.
Building confidence.
Building friendships.
Building champions.

Today is going to be an exciting day for Operation Breakthrough!

We’re heading out for a day focused on recreation, friendship, and building confidence through shared experiences.

💙 A 7-year-old future champion and his mom

While cue sports are at the heart of Operation Breakthrough, we believe healing, growth, and connection happen beyond the pool table as well. Recreation therapy helps build trust, reduce isolation, encourage teamwork, and create lasting friendships.

Every laugh, every challenge overcome, and every memory made brings us one step closer to our mission of improving mental well-being through recreation, mentorship, and community.

Our young champions made these THAN~CUE cards for Bison Entertainment and Amusements!

Today was a reminder of why Operation Breakthrough exists.

Three people came together around a pool table: an adaptive athlete, an Army combat veteran, and a 7-year-old boy experiencing his first lesson and he pocketed a lot of balls in a very short time.

Three different ages. Three different life stories. Three different challenges.

Yet for a few hours, none of that mattered.

There were smiles, laughter, high-fives, and the simple joy of hearing balls drop into pockets.

The adaptive player showed determination.
The veteran showed resilience.
The young boy showed curiosity and excitement.

Each encouraged the others without even realizing it.

This is what Operation Breakthrough is all about—creating a place where people can connect, learn, grow, and discover that they are capable of more than they thought possible.

A pool table doesn’t care about age, disability, rank, background, or life circumstances.

It simply gives everyone an opportunity to focus, believe, and succeed one shot at a time.

Pool is fun.
Connection is powerful.
Purpose through skill.
