Here’s a shot from a recent gig. I like to ride the line between dramatic moments and planned shots. Often the best stuff comes in between the two. For this shot we had an actress playing a dentist holding the dental instrument close to her patients (also and actor) mouth, as he sits in a dental chair looking concerned with what may come next. The direct eye contact, natural expression and vulnerability of the subjects makes it easy to connect with them. I like keeping photos neat and clean with natural looking soft light, nice crisp focus and natural colors. So it can look as if I just happened to walk in on this scene. Almost like street photography or documentary photography, but with a more cinematic flair. The room was propped out with all the tell tale signals of a real dentists office like a computer and dental tools in a crisp clean sterile environment. To complete the story the photo tells.
