In the pursuit of our physical goals we inevitably run into dings and dents along the way. I wanted to share two of my personal resources that keep me tuned up and ready to work towards my goals. First, for all things bodywork. Second, Julia from for all of your physical therapy needs. Both are some of the best in the business. Sharing is caring. Also, enjoy the dog picture clickbait.

Yesterday I completed my version of the “long walk” to honor and reflect on everyone who has been a support system to me over the past 40 years.
The goal: 40 miles for 40 years to be completed within a single day.
Logistics: Expert route planning completed by
Outcome: The goal was secured in 12 hours and 50 minutes with an activity time of 11 hours and 18 minutes (16:57 Avg Per Mile Pace).
Day of support crew: and mom.
Retrospective:
This event much like life is a group project. My ability to complete this event was made possible by my pit crew and all those who believe in me (including myself). I could fill this page with axioms and ism’s learned over the years, but belief in oneself and setting lofty goals is real success.
Also, you only hit pitches you swing at.
Event nutrition sponsors:
peanut butter and jelly, rice krispy treats, simple carbohydrates (gummy bears), water, caffeine and salt.
Shoutouts:
City of Chicago parks and recreation team for quality drinking fountains and rest areas along the amazing lake front trail. My day of support crew, and the weather for cloud cover and waiting until mile 38 to rain.
Fun facts:
Hardest mile: 6
Easiest mile: 26
Longest ruck prior: 6 miles
Personal records achieved: rucking a half marathon, whole marathon, first “ultra” distance event all in a day
Rest breaks: 2x45 min
Pack: goruck
Shoes: brooks ghost and altra
Blisters: 1
Song listened to on repeat: Chainsmokers - Tennis Court
Tears: 2x. 1 at Loyola beach and 1 at northwestern when Nero made it rain with 1 mile to go.
I am eternally grateful to those who have supported me to get to this point in my life and look forward to the next half. There are too many to list. Love to you all past, present, and future.
Thank you.

This is progress. We all want the big bang, but life is about stringing together base hits. Have patience, work hard, and above all else have fun.
