This Friday, we are excited to spotlight Jared, a current 3rd year at The College studying Biological Sciences on the Global & Public Health Track. This summer, he worked with Dr. Rima McLeod and her partners at Hospital Punta Pacifica in Panama City, Panama and at La Universidad del Quindío in Quindío, Colombia. Jared, along with his graduate counterpart Olivia, completed a multi-country project addressing congenital toxoplasmosis (CT) through clinician education, epidemiologic analysis, immunologic assessment, and early therapeutic exploration.

Applications to the Stamps Scholars Program are now open and will be accepted through Friday, February 13th, 2026 at 12 PM (noon). Made possible by the partnership of the Stamps Scholars program and the University of Chicago Office of Career Advancement, UChicago Scholars receive grants of $20,000 that can be used over the course of their final two years at the University.
Recipients may use these enrichment funds for a wide variety of experiential learning opportunities, including internships, research projects, entrepreneurial endeavors, volunteering, and attending professional conferences, and other experiences. The deadline to submit your abstract to the 2026 University of Chicago Undergraduate Research Symposium is Friday, January 30th.
Undergraduate researchers from across all disciplines and all years are invited to present their undergraduate research in poster or oral presentation sessions. Fine and performing artists are also invited to showcase their creative research through traditional conference formats, or in performance or exhibition spaces. Student presenters who have undertaken scholarly research at the University of Chicago or at other domestic or international universities, research institutes, museums or other collections are invited to apply.

Today is the final day to submit your application to the Summer 2026 Data Science Institute Summer Lab. The Data Science Institute Summer Lab program is an immersive 8-week paid summer research program at the University of Chicago.
In the program, undergraduate students (and Chicago-area high school students) are paired with data science mentors in various domains, including: computer science, data science, social science, climate and energy policy, public policy, materials science, and biomedical research. Through this pairing the research assistant will engage with and hone their skills in research methodologies, practices, and teamwork.

This Friday, we are excited to spotlight SJ, a current M1 at The University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine & recent graduate of the University of Chicago Master of Public Health program. This summer, he worked with Dr. Kavi Bhalla and his partners at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) in New Delhi, India. His research aimed at improving traffic conditions and vehicle safety across the city.

The deadline to apply to The MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics' Siegler Fellowship in Clinical Medical Ethics is January 15th, 2026.
This executive program is designed for clinicians and academic physicians who are interested in gaining training and experience in medical ethics. The fellowship begins with a four-week, full-time Summer Intensive in July. While most fellows are physicians, we welcome those interested in medical ethics from any perspective, including philosophy, nursing, and the social sciences.
There is no fee for the fellowship, and participants in the general part-time fellowship program do not receive a stipend. For more details on how to apply, please click the link below:

The University of Chicago STEM Career Fair will take place in-person on January 15th, 2026 at Ida Noyes Hall at 3 PM! The Career Fair will bring together students across campus to network with employers, connect with each other, and engage in programming centered around interdisciplinary STEM themes.
All undergraduate students interested in STEM related careers are invited to attend. Although professional attire is not required for the fair, we do recommend business casual wear. Student registration is available on Handshake.

The Winter Quarter Deadline for the College Center for Research and Fellowships' Quad Undergraduate Research Scholars Program has been extended through January 8th, 2026. The Quad Undergraduate Research Scholars program offers research grants that are competitive, open-discipline awards intended to enhance the educational experience of University of Chicago College students by supporting scholarly undergraduate research and creative inquiry experiences through active participation in faculty-mentored research.
Quad Undergraduate Research Scholars are expected to participate in the annual scholars programming and present their research at the the annual University of Chicago Undergraduate Research Symposium held each April. For more information on how to apply, please click the link below:
