Did you know Northwestern is the only Big Ten school without a women's water polo team? With only 9 days left in Northwestern's crowdfunding program, we are almost halfway to our goal! A huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far and supported us in our mission.

I’d like to start off by apologizing to all of our fans for the late post, but we’ve finally concluded our Big 10 season! We were able to improve on our eighth place regular season finish, and finish the Big 10 tournament in 7th! We had tough match ups for the first two games of the tournament, but were able to pull off a thrilling victory against the university of Iowa. To see pictures of our seventh place win, you can check out this link:

Another weekend another tournament down! We unfortunately are still lacking a win after our trip to the University of Iowa, but have solidified Northwestern’s reputation as the Big 10’s most heartfelt competitors. Catch us in Ann Arbor, Michigan during the weekend of October 27th and 28th, where we will be competing in the Big 10 Championships!

This is all the practicing we need before our first tournament. Speaking of which, practices are starting again this Monday, and will continue every Monday-Thursday from 8:30-10:00 PM in s**c. Hope to see lots of new faces!

This past weekend, NU Club Water Polo competed at Purdue University in the second tournament of the Big Ten season. Pablo Simons solidified himself as the premier goalie in the league, and Federico Tamborrel won this weekend's "Upstanding Athlete" award with his competitive and respectful gameplay. The 'Cats fell to the league's top-ranked teams, Michigan and Indiana, by small margins, but played significantly better than the previous weekend's outing at Indiana University.
The 'Cats are now the seventh seed in the Big Ten and will play Indiana University in round 1 of the Big Ten Championship tournament at the University of Iowa on October 21-22. Last year, the 'Cats entered as the 6th seed and took home 2nd place, so the team has high expectations. We will be working hard over the next three weeks to ensure that this year's title is brought home to Evanston. Go 'Cats!

Northwestern Club Water Polo started this year off strong with a competitive tournament at Indiana University. Other schools had an advantage by being able to start practices in August, but that didn't stop the from beating Iowa and challenging some of the Big Ten's best teams, including Michigan, Purdue, and Wisconsin. Olivia "Stonewall" Everhart was a beast in goal, and Mike Considine was unanimously voted the best-looking athlete in the pool.
Our next tournament will be played this weekend, Sept 30 - Oct 1, at Purdue University where Northwestern will face Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, and Illinois. More updates to come!

Our newest player of the week is local talent Will Kohr. Growing up on the streets of Winnetka, Northwestern Club Water Polo was a large part of Will's childhood. A fan all his life, Will has witnessed loads of Wildcat history, from Nick Roy's full court shot in 2015 to Alex West's 2014 sudden death game winner against Iowa. When he was extended a walk-on offer during his senior year of high school, he immediately accepted. In his first year, he has been an essential Jack of all trades. Whether it is scoring, defending, driving, or swimming, Will does a little bit of everything for the 'Cats.
Name: Will Kohr
Year: Freshman
Major: Econ and Stats
Hometown: Winnetka, IL
High School: New Trier (Editors Note: boo)
Position: Driver/Utility
Favorite Thing about the Team: The feeling he gets when he sees Michael Considine soft smile
Non-Polo Hobbies: Watching Game of Thrones, Cycling, Eating, Napping

Due to a team training trip in Louisiana, our admins did not have time to post last week's player of the week. So better late than never, congratulations to Olivia Everhart! Undoubtedly the best goalie this side of the Mississippi (actually not a joke), Olivia has channeled her childhood hatred of opponents scoring into a fantastic water polo career in the cage. According to local freelance reporter Jonah L. Rosenbloom, when she was just a freshman in high school she was asked "Does anyone large want to get in goal?" In typical Olivia fashion, she was like, 'Sure'. Since that fateful day, water polo players of all sizes are still trying to figure out how to score on her.
Name: Olivia Everhart
Year: Freshman
Major: Learning and Organizational Change
Hometown: Evanston, IL
High School: Evanston Township High School
Position: Goalie
Awards/Accolades: IHSA First Team All-State. NU Polo Nicest Person on Team Runner-up
Non Water Polo Hobbies: Frequenting Cozy Noodles, Napping, Playing with Toby (Water Polo House Cat), mass texting pictures of Will Kohr
Way to go Olivia!

The "Philly Phlyer" Ryan McHenry has the honor of being this week's Water Polo B1G Cat. Originally a swimmer with a complicated past, Ryan decided to switch over to polo after a 100 breast gone wrong. Luckily he has been a welcome addition to the team, providing cheer and laughs to go along with the occasional goal.
Name: Ryan McHenry
Grade: Sophomore
Major: Music
Hometown: Yardley, Pa
High School: Pennsbury High School
Position: Driver
Favorite Thing about the Team: Snuggling with Michael Considine during road tournaments
Unique Talents: Only player on the team who can play a musical instrument while treading water
Hobbies outside of Polo: Playing drums, writing music, backpacking, and eating hoagies

Gather one gather all! It's time to honor our newest Water Polo Player of the Week: Daniel Perlovsky! He's a lean mean scoring machine, but it's his genuine smile and can-do attitude that really put defenders in a bind. Let's learn more about Daniel!
Name: Daniel "El Presidente" Perlovsky
Grade: Senior
Major: Computer Science
Hometown: Deerfield, Illinois (oof)
High School: Deerfield High School (really original, Deerfield)

What phrase best defines who you are?: I'm full of surprises!
If you want to witness the meowing man, the coach(?), the legend that is Daniel Perlovsky, come to Northwestern Water Polo's tournament tomorrow and Sunday!
