We're all in this together! ๐Ÿ’ช

Group equipment classes at PCC are limited to 4-5 people, so even though you are in a group setting you are still getting hands on adjustments and attention. The classes will often start on the reformer, and hit at least one other piece of equipment. Most instructors will start with footwork and the hundred (if you don't know what that is, it will soon be very engrained ๐Ÿ˜ˆ), and move forward with the classical Pilates repertoire.

These classes are a wonderful supplement to private sessions and mat classes- they keep the exercises fresh in your mind and your muscle memory consistent. Often clients who take group equipment classes will find an exercise that they struggle with or want focus on, and they can take that to their private sessions to get a deeper understanding of their practice.

Sign up for group classes on the Pilates Center Of Chicago website under "group classes".

*Group equipment classes at PCC require instructor approval. Please contact the studio with any questions.*

There are so many options to choose from to take Pilates, where should you start?

We've got privates, semi privates, group equipment classes, mat classes, and more! It can seem overwhelming, but everything at PCC is meant to compliment each other.

We always recommend starting with our $50 First Time Private Session. It's a great way to experience the studio for the first time, and if you've never done Pilates before, you get a focused session on the foundation of Pilates. Moving forward, depending on your time and budget, you can either combine one or two privates with a group class/classes, or stick to group classes all together.

If you're wondering where you should start, or how you should move forward if you've already started, don't hesitate to contact the studio. The wonderful front desk staff is happy to help guide you in the right direction.

One way or another, as long as you're getting your body moving in a safe way, you can't go wrong! โ˜บ๏ธ

Do you spend all day sitting staring at a screen and feel like your posture is suffering? Are your every day activities causing aches and pains that weren't there before? ๐Ÿ˜“

Pilates is a great way to build strength and balance your body in order to make every activity easier. Pilates will strengthen your CENTER (the back, the abs, and the glutes) so your body can naturally hold proper posture and make actions like sitting down and standing up become easier. And that's only the beginning!

Come to PCC to strengthen your body and make your day to day a little easier! ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

How do I know if I should do yoga or Pilates??

Trick question, you do both! Just kidding ๐Ÿ˜, but there are numerous benefits for both.

Most of this choice depends on what your goals are and how you're looking to feel during your workout. Pilates and yoga are compared to each other quite often, but they are quite different. Both practices are low-impact and focus on body connection and awareness, but the level of intensity can vary. In yoga, you hold poses and breathe through them. In Pilates, you move through exercises and ranges of motion and use your breath to work through those exercises. Yoga tends to be a bit slower paced and more focused on flexibility and mindfulness, while Pilates is focused on strength, stamina, stability and stretch.

Yoga and Pilates each are incredibly beneficial to your overall wellbeing, so either option is a good one. If you're looking for a rigorous, intentional workout, go with Pilates. If you want to work on your flexibility and mindfulness, yoga might be the fit for you.
At PCC your first private yoga session AND your first private Pilates session are only $50!

What is yoga?

Yoga has been around for thousands of years, and while we are a Pilates studio, we take pride in our yoga as well. ๐Ÿคฉ

While yoga exists in the fitness realm, it is a spiritual discipline of the body and mind, that aims to connect a person to their inner self, and in turn connect with the rest of the world. The yoga we teach at PCC is usually Hatha or Vinyasa yoga. These two types of yoga are the most common in the western world today, and are great for working on your strength and flexibility. Besides the physical benefits, yoga is also a great way to reduce stress and promote relaxation and mindfulness, to better connect with the world around you. โœจ

Come connect and strengthen at PCC; Gina teaches yoga on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and sometimes Saturdays! ๐Ÿง˜
