Countertechnique® w/

The Countertechnique® class is a contemporary dance technique class. It stretches, coordinates and strengthens the body, making the dancer sweat, build stamina and really move.The class starts with a recurring set of exercises, allowing dancers to investigate the Countertechnique® principles in detail.

The second half of the class consists of changing components, working towards luscious movement combinations and jumping at the end. The Countertechnique® class results in dancers using less energy, losing their fear of taking risks and gaining speed in changing direction.

Description: How does the cellular life-cycle affect the dance of your body? Through guided improvisation, phrase work, and discussion we will investigate how deeply attuned we can be to the systems of our body and how these systems affect dance. We will then replicate these systems on the macro level in a group. How does our body share resources in a way that we can learn as a society to better support us all? What does this do to a room? What can our dance do for the world?
