🎶 Bear Down, Chicago Bears 🎶

Camp One Step and the Chicago Bears together at Lurie Children’s? Say less! On Tuesday we joined the Chicago Bears at Lurie Children’s for an afternoon with Hematology/Oncology patients and their families.

Chicago Bears Alumni Jim Schwantz and Mickey Pruitt met patients, signed autographs and even let a few people wear their Super Bowl rings!

What made this extra special for us was being able to share Camp in a Box with patients at Lurie Children’s. Each box was packed with the magic of camp as the perfect introduction to everything we have to offer. Patients received our camp mascot, some or our fan favorite activities, and even their own pennant and camp pin.

At camp, we will never let a hospital stay be a barrier to participate in the joy of camp. This is what makes Camp in a Box so special.

Huge thanks to the Chicago Bears and Lurie Children’s for letting us be part of this special day. 🎗️

Our vision for Camp is Gold Day was always bold. Could we show up for our community across the country? Could we celebrate the community we know and love, thank our healthcare professionals, and bring camp to hospitals across the country—all during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month?

We can, and we did.

Here’s how we celebrated:
🎗️ Delivered camp to 260 pediatric cancer patients in the hospital.
đź’› 8 hospitals across the country celebrated Camp is Gold Day.
✨ 1 in-person event at WhirlyBall Chicago.
🎗️ 475 Camp is Gold shirts sent to medical professionals.
🌟 100 limited-edition shirts sent to members of our community.

We loved making September so special for our community. But childhood cancer doesn’t take 11 months off, so we’ll be here—beyond September.

Howdy from Dude Ranch Camp! 44 campers travelled to Double JJ Ranch in Rothbury, MI for an exciting week of ranch life! We’ve spent the week exploring new trails, caring for our horses, learning to lasso, and our friends at Double JJ even hosted Cowboy Olympics!
