2026 Boat of the Year Series

The Wednesday Night races also starts the 2026 JPYC Boat of the Year series. The events in this years series include…

• Each of the three (3) Wednesday Night Series
(Hot Dog, Lunar and Twilight)
• Gold Star Regatta - Saturday, June 13th
• Gratt-Raske Regatta - Sunday, July 26th
• Alliance for Great Lakes Regatta - Aug 22-23
• Tri/Bi-State Regatta - Sept 6/7

The series will be scored using a high point percentage system (boats will be scored on the average of the scores from the races in which they participate) and boats need to participate in at least 50% of the events conducted. Each of the Wednesday night series counts as a separate event. Awards will be presented at the Holiday Party and Awards Dinner. Full details and registration links for all of the events are available from the JPYC racing page at https://jacksonparkyachtclub.org/racing.

Race Committee Opportunities

If you are interested in joining the Race Committee to help run the race, please sign up for the particular days via Wild Apricot (https://jacksonparkyachtclub27.wildapricot.org/racing-events-calendar). We have room for both for well seasoned RC officers and people new to running a sailboat race.

Crewing Opportunities

If you don’t have a boat and are interested in being part of a crew you can send an email to [email protected] with a quick introduction of yourself (name and what experience you might have) and we can forward your details to the boats registered for the race and help make a connection.

MWPHRF Ratings and Certificates

This year, we will accept either Standard or the new Cruiser certificate for MWPHRF ratings. We strongly encourage everyone to have a valid 2026 MWPHRF certificate.

The new MWPHRF Cruiser certificate is intended for boats whose handicap is greater than 100, have displacement hulls (non-planing) and are not sailing with specialty sails. The application form for the Cruiser certificate requires less input (no sail measurements) and cost is $25 all season.

We recommend, if you already have a Standard MWPHRF certificate, renew that certificate for 2026. If you do NOT currently have a MWPHRF certificate, we recommend that you apply for a Cruiser certificate. More details and application forms are available at https://mwphrf.org.

Hope to see you on the water!
