We don’t count calories. We don’t believe in the Before & After. We’re a size-inclusive, LGBTQIA-inclusive, equity-committed, social enterprise that’s here to reclaim movement and especially dance. This ancient and sacred right to move our bodies to music together and in sync has been too long preserved for a certain type of folk. Dance belongs to everyone. Radical reclamation without shame or embarrassment is what we’re about, and we won’t stop until the world is just one big flash mob. Dance stimulates your memory. Emerging research ties dance to long-term mental health. Movement in general can better support your brain and body health than drugs. About the founder:
I thought of myself as a former dancer and choreographer. It was reserved for the body that was, not the one I was living in. But I wanted, desperately, to feel the sense of abandon and that click of syncing my movement to music. Layers of shame; body shame, gender identity shame, disordered eating shame.... all kept me restrained. Until one day, it didn’t. Now, this not young, not skinny, not straight person shares what I’ve learned with you and works with a team of other awesome folks to ensure you’re mixed with music that propels you to move for your mental fitness. While our core will always be dance and movement mediums, we have so many other ways we support the community. Including talk therapy, workshops and live concerts. We’re excited about the future and want you to be a part of that! Get off your couch to spark your brain. Reclaim movement as satisfaction. Movement as resistance. Movement as therapy. Movement as sacred. Movement as defiance. Movement as the most authentic expression of you.
