We've rebranded! Arcanum is now ***rbellydance Q***r Belly Dance !!
Kamrah and I initially opened Arcanum as a brick-and-mortar studio in Chicago, intended to serve North Chicago dancers who may feel unwelcome or unaccommodated in a normative dance studio environment—q***r dancers, neurodivergent dancers, fat dancers, disabled dancers, etc. And then I got into a PhD program in Texas, and we had to convert to an online studio.
Over the years we've continued refining our values as teachers, facilitators, mentors, and what the two of us represent. "Arcanum" was chosen to evoke an abstract sense of dark, witchy, gothic vibes to appeal to others who, like us, embody these things every day. But what we have come to understand is our significance lies not in our aesthetic, but in the intersections of identity that we represent—notably, q***rness.
We have bonded over the vulnerable interactions we've had with students throughout our careers who tell us what it means to them to see visibly q***r dancers excelling in this industry. And as we are getting older, and our lives are unfolding in surprising, spectacular, and sometimes terrifying ways, our long-term values have shifted, and we both feel called to signal to other q***r dancers like us.
If this resonates with you at all, we invite you to follow our studio accounts, and visit us at www.Q***rBellyDance.com ! (and if anyone can make a more attractive logo than the one I slapped together in Canva, please send them my way!)

I'm back from Europe, and I have lots of classes happening this summer before I run off to Austin to start my PhD! And the best part is these are all hybrid, so if you are a busy bee or a remote student, you can still learn on your own schedule with class recordings.
Here are the class series I have coming up:
🌟SUMMER SAGAT SERIES🌟: I am teaching TWO multi-tonal finger cymbal class series, the "Essentials kit" and "Drake's favorites." If you've been digging the finger cymbal orchestration I've been using in my recent performances, these classes will orient you to multi-tonal method and how it combines with dance. Each series contains 4 classes.
💰$80 USD for one, or $120 for both. $25 to drop in.
🌟HAHBI'RU-INSPIRED CHOREOGRAPHY SERIES🌟: This class series will teach you a Hahbi'Ru-inspired choreography, curated by me. If you love vintage West Coast fusion aesthetic combined with clever group dynamics, personality, and a strong folkloric influence, you will love this class. This series contains 5 classes.
💰$100 USD
🌟FUSION TRANSITION SERIES🌟: Have you drooled over videos of Zoe Jakes, Rachel Brice, Pixie Fordtears, and Sara Lyn, but didn't know where to start? The "Fusion Transition Series" is perfect for advanced beginners and intermediate students who want to learn how to adapt their movement stylization to reflect a "core fusion" aesthetic. This series contains 6 classes.
💰$120 USD, or $25 to drop in
