The Menomonee Judo Club is one of the top Jr Judo programs in the country and America's first Paralympic National Training Center. Our Paralympic classes are pioneering the future of Judo at Park District and Public Schools around the city. During the last year students have competed at local, regional, national and international competitions in 11 states. The club has earned 26 national or international medals in 2008. More photos and results from the Tohkon Classic. It truly was a great day for the club, as our athletes took home a total of 24 medals (11 Gold) at a very competitive tournament. It also continued a streak of top four overall finishes at tournaments where we send a full team (over 15 competitors). That streak goes back 3 years and ten tournaments. Our athletes have worked extremely hard and deserve a ton of credit for continuing the excellence that we expect at the club. Congratulations again on making us all proud!

Congratulations to every single player who competed over the weekend at the Tohkon Classic in Oak Lawn. We couldn’t be more proud of the effort, skill and sportsmanship that our players exhibited throughout the long day. This was no ordinary regional tournament. Minus the name and the fact that they weren’t awarding points towards the national roster, make no mistake, this was a high level, national tournament. 533 competitors is a big number and many of the top clubs throughout the region sent their A team. The competition was stiff and intense. We ended up in third place overall out of over 50 total clubs who participated, which is a tremendous result. The most exciting part for us is that we can and will fight so much better with some more experience and match play. There are too many highlights to mention, but we’ll try and share more later on this week. The future is very bright at the club. We’re finally fully back to where we belong post pandemic. Big thanks to our staff. Scott, Manny and Shingo, who always do a great job and give everything they have. We couldn’t do it without them. And a huge shoutout to Aki for making us all look very good. He was by far the best player at the tournament and showed not only world class Judo, but tremendous poise and a calming presence. We were honored for him to represent us. All in all, a great day for the club!

Congrats to Troy Jackson who competed in his first BJJ Tournament yesterday at the Tap Out Cancer event held in Oak Lawn, IL and took 3rd place in the Middleweight Masters (ages 30+) division against people barely half his age. He’ll be right back in Oak Lawn at the Pavilion next Saturday to compete in his primary sport of Judo at the Tohkon Classic. Congrats Troy on competing and raising money for such a great cause!!

Belated congratulations to Jude Moore, who continued his extremely successful year by taking a bronze medal last month at the U.S Open in Fort Lauderdale. Jude has fought his way onto the podium in all five tournaments that he’s competed in this year. He currently is ranked number one in the country in his age / weight category. Way to go, Jude!

What a year it’s been! Wolf Judo put a nice bow on an extremely successful Judo season with a stellar performance at the USA Judo Junior Olympic Championships over the weekend in Spokane. Our eight athletes fought their hearts out and made everyone at the club proud!
The team included:
David W - Silver Medal, Bronze Medal
Jude M - Gold Medal (elite)
Gabriel D - Gold Medal
Jason W - Four matches
Poppy M - Gold Medal, 4th place
John L - Silver Medal, Bronze Medal
Axel S - Ten matches
Eric M - 4th place
All in all a very successful weekend, with tons of valuable lessons learned. Congratulations to everyone who competed!
