Our co-founder Beau D'Arcy (HBS 2010) had the pleasure of accompanying Mayor Rahm Emanuel on a trip to Boston recently, in an effort to recruit some of the brightest minds to come to Chicago, Illinois after they graduate from Harvard University, Harvard Business School, Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard Graduate School of Design, and other graduate programs. While on campus the delegation was treated to a tour of the impressive Harvard Innovation Labs and even had a surprise visit with renowned Chicago architect Jeanne Gang of Studio Gang (e.g. Aqua, Vista, Northerly Island) who is a currently lecturing at the School of Design. A productive trip, all around... thanks World Business Chicago!

Alliance for the Great Lakes recently organized a series of events across all of the . Breakwater Chicago co-founder Beau D'Arcy is a member of the Alliance for the Great Lakes Young Professional Council, which rallied 50 volunteers to help cleanup here in . The volunteers ended up bagging 85 pounds worth of cigarette butts, broken glass, screws, plastic bottles, and even an exit sign during the morning. After working up an appetite (and a thirst!) the volunteers went to a "thank you" party hosted by Hopsmith Tavern with cool beverages kindly provided by Great Lakes Brewing Company. It was a fun and productive morning but let's all do our part and please keep the beaches .

In an effort to promote public safety with our fellow stakeholders, Breakwater has been a member of the Chicago Harbor Safety Committee for a few years.
With boating season under way, check out this video produced by the CHSC that gives you great insights into our waterways, both the lake and the river, the history around the waterways, a look into our harbors and yacht clubs, and of course helpful tips in navigating and public safety.
