for all our deshi, we are having our last class of the year and our Bonenkai Saturday the 21st.
We will have class 10:00 AM-12:00 PM with a break for lunch, and then we will resume at 2:00 PM, with training from 2:00-5:00 PM, and our Bonenkai following.
Please let us know if you are coming to the training and/or Bonenkai (two separate events).
Additionally, let us know if you are bringing additional guests to the Bonenkai (open to everyone).

Our beloved hombu dojo..the Shingikan is being slated for closure and demolition.
Linked here is the petition to save it. Please take the time to sign it and help try to save this bastion to martial training.
Located on the grounds of Kishiwada castle, it was rebuilt in 1962 and been a public dojo for the community.

We are sad to announce that one of our deshi has passed into the infinite.
Malik Carlvin had been a deshi with us for only a couple of years. He was always well liked and eager to learn when he was in class.
His presence will be missed and we wish his family our sincerest condolences during this difficult time.
Due to an all day aikido event at the JCC both regular and intro class will be held at the old location; 1016 w belmont ave.
Class times are the same: 10am-12 regular class; 11am-12pm intro class

The JCC is having an event at the new dojo on saturday so class is moving back to our old digs this saturday.
Saturdays class is 10am at the belmont location.
Introduction to Japanese Swordsmanship will e cancelled until next week.
friendly reminder: no classes on saturday. this includes the intro class.
We will be demonstrating at C2E2 this saturday at 12:30
We will also be hanging out at the Japanese Culture Center Booth throughout the weekend to answer questions, offer mini intro classes, etc.

Introduction to Japanese Swordsmanship
Learn the basics of traditional Japanese Swordsmanship.
This is an 8 week program designed to teach you the basic skills needed to use a Japanese sword.
You will learn proper etiquette, how to handle a katana, drawing, cutting, movement, etc.
We provide everything you need for the course. Just wear clothing you can move around in and don't mind getting sweaty.
Learn at your own pace. This is an ongoing program, so come every week or come in as you can, picking up where you left off.
Class is held every Saturday 11am-12pm at the Japanese Culture Center @ 2940 N. Lincoln Ave, Chicago - 2nd floor.
Cost is $100 for the full 8 week course.
