Summer soirée mode: activated ☀️🍍
Suellen and SFC brought everyone together for the kind of night you don’t want to end: tacos from L' Patron and apps that disappeared in minutes, pineapple margaritas on repeat, and the best company doing what it does best: laughing way too loud and staying way too late.
This is what summer is for. Thank you for opening your home (and your blender) to us, Suellen. Already asking when the next one is 😝

💪🏽SFC, please give a very warm welcome to our new Personal Trainer: Katerina Willis
🧑🩰Katerina is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and a freelance dancer and choreographer. She graduated with a BFA in Dance at Western Michigan University, where she studied biomechanics, injury prevention, and movement instruction alongside ballet, modern, and jazz dance technique.
Prior to moving to Chicago in August 2025, she worked as a fitness and dance professional around Southwest Michigan, including teaching for Kalamazoo College, Wellspring Dance Academy, and performing with local modern dance companies.
She believes in the power of goal-setting, discipline, and mind-body connectivity to enhance fitness and daily life. She loves seeing how empowered her clients feel after building consistent habits in and out of the gym!
🤗 Be sure to give Katerina a nice, warm welcome!
Saturday’s Cardio Queens class was almost sold out, and it showed. The energy in that room was unmatched.
The SFC ladies put in serious work — pushing through, staying locked in, and hyping each other up the entire time. That’s the Cardio Queens spirit: strong women showing up for themselves and for each other.
We sent Mayra and Cece home with SFC merch because that kind of effort deserves to be celebrated.
Spots go fast — don’t miss next month’s class. Sign up now to lock in your spot.

Most women think “core work” means crunches, and “mobility” means touching their toes before a workout. Neither is true, and neither is doing much for you.
Your core is your entire trunk: the muscles that stabilize your spine, protect your back, and let you move with power instead of compensating around pain. And mobility isn’t flexibility- it’s control through your full range of motion. Can you actually use the range you have?
This is exactly what we’re covering at our Mobility and Core Strength event. You’ll learn:
→ What your core actually is (hint: it’s not just what you see in the mirror)
→ How to properly engage it- before you lift, not just during
→ Why moving through your full range of motion protects your joints and builds real strength
→ How mobility and core work together to keep you training injury-free for years, not weeks
This is the stuff that gets skipped in most workouts- and it’s the stuff that determines whether you’re still training strong at 50, 60, 70+

🧑🩰Most women have never heard of VO2 max. But it might be the most important number for your long-term health.
VO2 max is your body’s ability to use oxygen during exercise. And it is one of the strongest predictors of how long- and how well you live.
Here’s the part nobody tells you: women naturally have a lower VO2 max than men, and it declines with age. Starting in your 30s.
But here’s what does work. Just 30 minutes of cardio per week pushed at a challenging intensity can meaningfully improve your VO2 max over time.
Not 30 minutes every day. 30 minutes total per week at a pace that makes you work.
The benefits go beyond fitness.
A higher VO2 max means a stronger heart. Better brain function. Lower risk of chronic disease. More energy day to day. A body that stays capable longer.
This is not about being an athlete. This is about protecting your quality of life for decades to come.
30 minutes a week. Push a little harder than comfortable. That’s the work.

🤩Menopause Matters was such a powerful morning.
We tackled the myths that keep women silent, the realities most doctors never explain, and how to actually advocate for ourselves in appointments where we’re too often dismissed.
From symptom tracking to hormone therapy misconceptions to the questions every woman over 40 should be asking her provider — this was the conversation we’ve needed for a long time.
🙏🏼Thank you to Preeti MD, FCAOG and everyone who showed up ready to learn and advocate for their own health.
