Meet August member of the month Dana Dwyer !

Q: What brought you to SLSC originally?
A: I was a Track and Field athlete in college so I’ve always enjoyed weight lifting and wanted to try CrossFit but was way too intimidated. Once I walked past the gym on the street with the garage door open on a summer evening, it looked so fun I had to try!

Q: What’s your favorite movement or workout—and your least favorite?
A: Favorite movement is box jump overs, least favorite movement is anything related to a pull-up.

Q: Proudest gym moment so far?
A: Participating in my first Murph and all 3 workouts of the 2026 Open.

Q: What’s something surprising people might not know about you?
A: I am a Physical Therapist working in a hospital so functional mobility and strength training is something I preach all day every day to my patients, especially the older ones!

Q: What’s your go-to hype song or workout playlist vibe?
A: Misery Business by Paramore or Victory Lap Five by Fred again..

Q: Favorite post-workout meal or treat?
A: Anything with chocolate.

Q: When you’re not training, what are you up to?
A: Hanging out with my 2 cats Tibby and Bean :)

Q: Any advice for someone just getting started at SLSC?
A: Just start!! SLSC is the most welcoming and inviting space to start something new. The coaches and programming make it easy to scale a workout to exactly where you are at, all while making it accessible and safe. But also challenging and fun!

Help us celebrate our December member of the month, Shalin!

From alternative hype tracks to well-earned pizza nights after a 3–4 day training week, he embodies what we love most about this community: work hard, celebrate the wins, and trust that little gains add up in a big way.

What brought you to SLSC originally?
I wanted to join a true CrossFit gym with dedicated coaches and expertise
What’s your favorite movement or workout—and your least favorite?
Most barbell compound movements are some of my favorites. I also enjoy the gymnastic movements. Least favorite the bike/run
Proudest gym moment so far?
Getting single and multiple Bar Muscle Ups!
What’s your go-to hype song or workout playlist vibe?
Alternative.
Favorite post-workout meal or treat?
Varies - if healthy then likely Greek yogurt. If I've made it to the gym 3-4 over the week then definitely pizza
Any advice for someone just getting started at SLSC?
Little gains go a long way and technique matters more than the weight (this is easier said than done but it's paid strong dividends).
