Southport has a brand new set of workout bands hanging in the classroom! There are so many ways to utilize resistance bands for warm up, PT, Pilates, and a good old fashioned workout routine!
Get familiar with some new workout equipment with this banded workout:
•Side to side squat walks
•Squat thrusters
- Place band under feet and hold other end in hands, perform thruster
•Leg pulses
•Leg step backs
•Push up to arm side lift

Just have a tough workout at Southport Fitness? Let’s make sure to replenish well!
After a tough workout, the glycogen stores in your muscles are all used up, and are in need of replenishment! Incorporating a carbohydrate source, such as rice, bread, bananas, or starchy vegetables, will help you to replenish your stores for your upcoming workout (which helps you perform your best!)
Protein is also a necessary component to the post workout meal. It helps with muscle protein synthesis in the body to rebuild, and repair. Incorporating something high in protein such as meat, eggs, dairy, or soy will help with this process.
What are our favorite post workout snacks?
- muscle milk or core power
- peanut butter banana protein shake
- Chipotle!
