Hiawatha Park Basketball HPB

Happy Thanksgiving HPB family! We have some great news to share! The park staff at Hiawatha are hosting the basketball league this year and have slots available for children ages 6 to 12. You can register directly through the Chicago Park District website! Feel free to inbox us if you need any help finding it. We hope to see lots of familiar faces supporting their league this year. Games and practices will be on set days and times based on the age group your child falls in to. They are also encouraging groups of friends to register together so feel free to bring your whole team over for the fun! Coaches will be volunteer based just like with our league so parents please consider lending a hand if you can. Also, stop by the park for a 20% discount code for dicks sporting goods to get your kids ready for the season!

If your child's age group says full please register for the wait list, there is room to expand if demand is high enough.

Our final match up of the 2024-2025 season was the Seniors Bulls vs. Sixers. After a tough game the Bulls came out on top to grab the 2025 Seniors Championship with a final score of 30-28! Congrats to everyone on an amazing season!!

Congrats to the Juniors Celtics who are the 2025 HPB Jr's Champions! They defeated the Lakers with a final score of 24-8. Great job to both teams!

Congrats to the 2025 HPB Majors Champions the Nuggets!!! After a hard fought game they defeated the Bulls 20-12. Congrats to both teams on a great season!!

A reminder for all coaches, parents and family/ friends coming to support our athletes:

THESE ARE CHILDREN PLAYING IN THESE GAMES!!

Please exercise your best self control. We understand how invested everyone is in their children but that does not excuse nor call for being aggressive or inappropriate in any form.

As support systems for them we need to remember that throughout the playoffs. Positive encouragement is more than welcome but anything beyond that is unnecessary and will result in you being removed and possibly banned from the gym. Do not yell or curse at the players, coaches or referees; do not involve yourself when our coaches and staff are more than capable of handling what is happening on the court and please just be respectful on all levels. These games are meant to be fun and learning opportunities for our children. They learn from the parents and audience just as well as the coaches and staff. We all set the example, make it a good one for the sake of all involved.

Good luck to all the teams competing! It's been an amazing season and we cannot wait to see who the final teams standing will be.
