PVC Pipe drills for shot putters. Focus on engaging your block arm more actively. You can do these drills with or without an implement. This is a simple way I help my developing throwers connect with the motion of opening their non-dominant side to finish their throw with force.

Open it out and around
Block arm drives out toward the front of the sector, stays long, stays out there. It does NOT whip across your body early. If it turns before your hips catch up, your chest opens too soon and the disc’s already leaking sideways before your throwing arm even releases.
Long live Dolly!
Do what is necessary.
Do what is right.
Do what you love.

If you do nothing, how do you get better?
Feedback is the only way you improve. I appreciate the reviews and responses I receive from my clients. If you're looking for an in-person or remote Throws coach, download the Only Throwers app, and let’s work toward your goals. If you do nothing, how do you get better?
Start them Young. They’ll fall in love with a sport. If they don’t at least they’re trying something new. I love multi sport athletes. You don’t have to centralize your whole focus on one event. Be versatile move your body. Use your hips.

Why countering is so important, it keeps your center of mass over your feet so you don’t get yanked out of the circle or lose your turning axis.
The stronger your counter position, it lets you build torque between your hips and shoulders.
