Message from the University to our OHIO Chillicothe student athletes: You deserve to fulfill your educational goals in a setting that provides you with the safest experiences. We believe that all of the planned interventions for the fall semester will provide that. Three of our regional campuses provide students the opportunity to engage in competitive athletic experiences as an extracurricular activity. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, we were exploring the possibility of transitioning to club/intramural athletic opportunities and away from the current conference athletic teams due to increasing costs. The pandemic has accelerated these discussions and led us to reconsider moving forward with our current athletic programs.

Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to be able to implement the safeguards that are required for safe competitive sports on our regional campuses. Although we will not offer athletic programs this academic year, we understand that the opportunity to engage in healthy physical activity is extremely important to many of our students, and so we plan to resume athletic programming through club/intramural type opportunities once it is safe for us to do so.
