A clinical trial found yoga cut insomnia, fatigue and mood disturbances in cancer survivors compared to standard care alone.

The NCI-funded study tracked 206 survivors who practiced hatha and restorative yoga about 180 minutes weekly over four weeks.

Researchers called it a non-pharmaceutical solution for reducing four side effects at once.

The Heat. Hot yoga opens your blood vessels and deepens your flexibility. It flushes your muscles with oxygen and forces your mind to slow down.

The Cold. Stepping into the plunge constricts those vessels, shocking your body into an immediate nervous system reset. It releases a massive wave of dopamine.

The Magic. Moving between fire and ice acts like a pumping mechanism for your heart. It reduces inflammation, stops muscle soreness, and builds mental grit.

Ready to test your edge? Our next Hot Yoga & Cold Plunge night:
Thursday, June 4th 6pm

This Memorial Day, I chose to put my phone down, walk my trail, visit family burial sites and talk with my mom about my great grandfather's role in the Civil War times and my grandfather's dedication and years of service in the Navy.

Some of the best memories I have of my grandfather was lying on his military bed mat, (yes he kept it) under a huge old tree, while he taught me about his life and nature.

He and my mother's love for nature is how I was raised to appreciate the outdoors. Born a city girl, and still at heart, nature holds me in ways humans cannot.

I hope you were able to find appreciation for those who have come before you and passed on with a legacy to cherish for your lifetime.

For generations, women have been told that their worth is measured by how much they burn themselves to the ground to keep everyone else warm.

But here’s the unvarnished truth for 2026: Self-care isn't a luxury. It’s physiological survival. When you run on chronic empty, your nervous system gets trapped in fight-or-flight. You aren’t giving your family, your job, or your community the "best" of you—you’re giving them a frayed, exhausted version of you.

True self-care isn’t bubble baths and green smoothies.
It looks like:
Saying a radical "No" to things that drain you.
Setting fierce boundaries to protect your mental peace.
Stepping into a quiet space (like a dome in the woods 🌲) to let your guard down.

You cannot pour from a dry well. Taking care of yourself ensures that what you give to the world is the overflow, not your lifeblood.
Stop escaping your life. Start preserving it.

"This past weekend I spent time biking, time with family and friends, treated myself to a spa day, and recorded a podcast on exactly why all of this matters" (podcast drop next week).

👉 Ready for a nervous system reset? Leave the noise behind and join us under the dome this month. [Link in Bio]

Monday Motivation: What are you putting in "storage"? 🪙💪

On a Monday morning, it’s easy to think of fitness and nutrition as just chores to check off the list—or worse, a punishment for what we ate over the weekend. But I want to challenge you to shift your perspective today.

What if your workouts aren't about looking good in a bathing suit, but about building “strength and resilience in storage”?

I learned the true value of my "storage" during one of the hardest seasons of my life. Both of my parents were hospitalized at the same time, three hours apart. Between the endless driving across Ohio, the emotional weight, and having to take the reins to manage the crisis for my entire family, I was pushed to my absolute limits. My mind could barely handle it. But my body? My body held me up. Because I had spent years lifting weights, practicing yoga, and nourishing myself, I had the physical reserves to survive that storm without crumbling.

That investment shows up in the joyful moments, too—like last week, when I was able to effortlessly squat down to the floor to pick up a dropped toy while holding my 45-pound granddaughter, and she cheered me on!

As I edge closer to 62, I don't care about a six-week cut or a crash diet. I care about functionality, flexibility, and a solid foundation. I do the work so that when life does what life inevitably does, I have a buffer. I have strength in storage.

When you step onto your mat or pick up those weights today, remember: you aren't just working out for today. You are building the ultimate backup system for your life.
Let’s go fill up our tanks for the week. What are you training for today? 👇
